New York Giants: Immediate Reaction Following Victory over the Dallas Cowboys
The New York Giants clinched the NFC East title over the Dallas Cowboys, and they looked good doing it.
The front four for the Giants' defense put pressure on Tony Romo all night, and Eli Manning and the offense took care of business.
The Giants are peaking at the right moment, as they are poised to make another playoff run like they did in 2007.
After a season filled with injuries and uphill battles, the G-Men overcame and dominated Dallas.
Heads up Atlanta; the Giants are out for blood.
The Defensive Line Is Back
1 of 4The Giants defensive line stepped up tonight, sacking Tony Romo six times and forcing two turnovers.
Jason Pierre-Paul recorded another sack, and Justin Tuck came through with a key sack as well.
Osi Umenyiora returned after weeks of injuries to sack Romo twice, and Chris Canty and rookie Jacquian Williams also joined the sack party.
The Giants front four also pressured Romo into an interception, which came via Antrel Rolle.
This Giants defensive line looked a lot like the one who brought a Super Bowl to New York in 2007.
Watch out Atlanta Falcons.
Victor Cruz Is a Pro Bowl Snub and Great Receiver
2 of 4Six receptions, 178 yards and one touchdown—and one Giant win.
Victor Cruz is a human highlight reel.
Aside from holding a number of Giants' receiving records, Cruz has brought a spark of energy to the offense.
Cruz has become Manning's go-to receiver, making it tough for opposing defenses to control Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. Cruz leads Big Blue in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
Atlanta surrenders 235 passing yards per game, which plays nicely into the hands of Manning and Cruz.
Eli Manning Is Elite
3 of 4Eli Manning now has five touchdowns and one interception against Dallas this season.
He threw for a combined 746 yards in those games, and has led the Giants to victory all season long.
His six fourth-quarter comebacks are the most in the NFL, and he has spread the wealth to all receivers.
Manning hit eight different guys in the victory over Dallas, and played mistake-free football, not committing a single turnover.
Manning made a key 3rd-and-7 play in the fourth quarter by escaping the rush and delivering a 44-yard bomb downfield to Cruz to preserve the win for the Giants.
He's arguably the hottest QB heading into the playoffs, which doesn't look good for the Falcons.
The Giants Can Make Some Noise in the Playoffs
4 of 4Next Sunday at 1 p.m. EST the Giants will face the Atlanta Falcons at home.
The Giants have already proven that they can play at a high level in key games and against great teams this season, and I expect the same fate next Sunday.
The Falcons will throw the ball on the Giants defense, but it won't be easy for them with the front four of the Giants D.
No one is rushing the passer better than Pierre-Paul heading into the playoffs, and Tuck and Umenyiora seem energized and ready to make a playoff push.
The G-Men will need to stop Michael Turner, but they definitely match up nicely with the Falcons, who will be playing in a cold New York stadium, as opposed to a climate-controlled dome.
