Dwayne Bowe Injury: Chiefs WR's Neck Injury Gives Broncos' Playoff Hopes a Boost

Jun 7, 2018

It looks like the Kansas City Chiefs will have to continue their regular season finale against the Denver Broncos without one of their top offensive weapons.

Shortly before the end of the half, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe hit the deck and came up wobbly. He managed to make his way over to the sideline under his own power, but he hasn't been able to return in the third quarter.

Via the Broncos' official Twitter feed, here's the latest on Bowe's status:

Assuming Bowe is unable to return, it suffices to say the Chiefs have suffered a pretty significant blow. Before he had to leave the game, Bowe was able to record six receptions for 93 yards. Those are pretty good numbers for a whole game, let alone a single half.

At the moment, as of this writing, the Chiefs are clinging to a 7-3 lead in the fourth quarter, but their offense is sputtering. They may not be able to put too many more points on the board.

And that's a good thing for the Broncos. They don't need a win to get into the playoffs, but a win will clinch the AFC West if they get one.

If the Broncos lose, the Oakland Raiders can win the AFC West if they beat the San Diego Chargers in Oakland. The good news for the Broncos is that the Chargers are winning that game 31-19, but there's a lot of football left to be played.

If the Broncos hold Kansas City's Bowe-less offense in check, they stand a pretty good chance of winning and celebrating a division championship on their home turf.

But in order to do that, they're going to need Tebow Time to make a comeback. Tebow is struggling with his accuracy once again, and he hasn't had much success running the football.

We'll see what happens. If the Broncos are able to escape with a win, they will have taken advantage of Bowe's absence.
