WWE SmackDown Analysis: Randy Orton Takes a Tumble and a Huge Match Announced
Friday night’s Smackdown was extremely entertaining watch and let the WWE go out of 2011 with its head held high.
There were some quality matches, as superstars usually reserved for the house shows and WWE Superstars were given airtime to showcase their skills.
Drew McIntyre was one of these fortunate people. He needs a bit of a better 2012 if he is to reclaim any sort of dominance in the squared circle.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
At one point last year, McIntyre showed a fire and an attitude which could have furthered his career.
The point I am alluding to is when he made his entrance at Elimination Chamber. I honestly thought we’d see a lot more of the Scot, but it fizzled out for him once again. He is getting some exposure now that he is in danger of being kicked out of the WWE for losing all the time.
Let’s not forget the losing streak that preceded Sheamus’ rise to the top of Smackdown. Could the same thing happen for McIntyre? Only time will tell.
Another huge match was made for 2012 in this particular episode, as Big Show became increasingly frustrated with Daniel Bryan offering his help.
The two are now due to face each other for the World Heavyweight Championship. I can’t see Bryan losing the Championship this early into his reign, especially to the Big Show. I hope we don’t see an interference in the match but I think it is pretty likely as Mark Henry has beef with both guys and we may see the big man at least attempt to interfere.
I’m guessing he will just cause a distraction to Big Show, allowing Bryan to retain his title.
That would make the most sense as well, because although he doesn’t like Bryan, I’m sure Henry would consider him less of a challenge compared to the World’s Largest Athlete.
Randy Orton has been kicked out of the picture quite literally by Wade Barrett, who is assumed to have thrown the Apex Predator down the stairs.
Personally I think the whole segment could have been done a little better because the cameraman just stopped behind the door, which was really confusing. He didn’t even try and struggle through, which made it glaringly obvious that something was going to happen that we weren’t allowed to see.
This injury worries me a bit because if Orton returns at the 2012 Royal Rumble, I think we can pretty much call him the winner now.
I really hope this does not happen because it would be bad for WrestleMania, and it would be bad for the Royal Rumble. Orton needs to carry his feud with Barrett, and if he is to return at the Royal Rumble, then the best way to amplify this is to have Barrett easily eliminate a few superstars and have him in the ring on his own. Orton would return, and the crowd would go mental at the impending brawl they would be about to witness.
Then, Kane could eliminate them or someone else with ridiculous power.
All in all, Smackdown was a strong showing for the end of the year and has allowed me to enter 2012 with a sense of excitement in terms of the direction the WWE is taking.
