Padres' Xander Bogaerts Placed on IL with Fractured Shoulder Injury
The San Diego Padres will be without second baseman Xander Bogaerts for some time after they placed him on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left shoulder on Wednesday, per Jeff Wallner of the Associated Press.
"I'm not a big timetable guy," Padres manager Mike Shildt said. "Obviously he'll be on the sidelines for a period of time. It's really impossible to say how long. We're still gathering information."
Bogaerts suffered the injury diving for a ground ball during Monday's contest against the Atlanta Braves.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Through 47 games this year, Bogaerts is slashing .219/.265/.316 with four home runs, 14 RBI and four stolen bases.
The Padres signed Bogaerts to an 11-year, $280 million contract prior to the 2023 campaign after he spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Boston Red Sox.
In 155 games last year, he hit .285/.350/.440 with 19 home runs and 58 RBI.
During his time in Boston, Bogaerts became the face of the franchise thanks to his consistent production. He set the record for most games played at shortstop in franchise history during the 2022 season, surpassing Everett Scott's mark of 1,093.
Despite joining a star-studded Padres lineup, Bogaerts watched the postseason from home as San Diego went 82-80 and failed to make the playoffs. The team is off to a 25-26 start this season.
Look for Luis Arráez to play second base while Bogaerts is sidelined.
