Nash had a goal and an assist, but he took a penalty with just over three minutes to go in the third period. The Coyotes tied the game on the power play, and seemed destined for overtime.
How did Nash respond to this? By making highlight reels everywhere. Nash took a pass from Michael Peca and entered the Coyotes zone with two defenseman waiting. Rick pulled the puck to the inside to maneuver by one, then did the same to the other.
With just the goalie to beat, he cut to the left, and Mikael Tellqvist poke-checked the puck. However, Nash kicked the puck back to his stick and slid it into the empty cage. Talk about feeling bad for the penalty he took.
"It just seemed like the puck was on a string," Nash said. "I made a couple of dekes and the puck just stayed with me. Pecs made a nice pass up and it was a one-on-two. We had three guys back, so I figured I might as well try something."
The goal came with 22 seconds remaining, giving Nash two goals and an assist. Keith Ballard and Derek Morris were the two unlucky defenseman he undressed before scoring.
Let's be sure to get on Nash's bad side in the future, so that he can tally more goals like that.
