Looks Like Most Of The Division Races Are Over...

BOSTON - AUGUST 23: Hideki Matsui #55 of the New York Yankees is congratulated by Rob Thomson #59 after Matsui hit a solo home run in the eighth inning against the Boston Red Sox on August 23, 2009 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

LAS VEGAS, NV-It looks like the divisional races are pretty much almost over with a month to go in Baseball. The Phillies, Dodgers, Cardinals, Angels, Yankees and Tigers are all looking like they have momentum to win their divisions with ease. The wild card is a whole other article but it appears to me that the Red Sox and Giants have the momentum to win those races.

The surprise is believe it or not the New York Yankees who just turned on the juices in late July to show their mite and just may land in the series. Now in the National league the Dodgers have looked solid all year but can they overcome the Phillies pitching? Here are some great story lines to think about...

Baseball would love nothing more than the all time great series of the Dodgers vs. Yankees. What a storyline, Joe Torre, Don Mattingly and staff vs. their old employers the New York Yankees. Second best scenario staying with the Dodgers how about Manny Ramirez going back to Boston to play the Red Sox? and thirdly the Freeway series, Scioscia's staff and the Angeles vs. their old team the Dodgers? How about Tigers vs. Dodgers that could be interesting?

Leaving Los Angeles we could go up the coast how about Randy Johnson and the Giants vs. his old team the Yankees?

If the Rockies held on in Wild Card could they face Jim Leyland and his Tigers after the Rockies gave up on Leyland or was it reversed? Angels vs. Cardinals could be interesting. Marlins slipping in doesn't sound very fun...but this is their year if you look at the past. Florida and Angels could be good? but Tigers vs. Cardinals not so fun...

How about a Phillies vs. Yankees series? Red Sox vs. Cardinals again? not so appealing huh? Angels vs Giants, nah! not again...

I guess I kind of like only three scenarios, Dodgers vs. Yankees or Red Sox and I also like the idea of Phillies vs. Angels and lastly I like the freeway series Dodgers vs. Angels way overdue! What do you think...
