Talib Case Suspended

Friday, April 17

Rebecca Lopez of WFAA reported that Dallas police have suspended the Talib investigation due to lack of evidence.

On April 9, Jesse Paul of the Denver Post reported that no arrest had been made in the Talib case:

"

Police in Dallas said Thursday morning they have yet to make any arrests in an aggravated assault investigation reportedly involving Bronco's Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib and his brother.

Police said their investigation into reports a black male fired a gun in the air outside a nightclub there early Wednesday remains active and ongoing.

Talib Reportedly Subject of Police Investigation

Wednesday, April 8

Lopez, Mike Leslie and Josh Davis of WFAA.com reported the incident Wednesday. According to their report, an altercation occurred at a nightclub named Club Luxx, where Talib and his brother, Yaqub, got into a physical confrontation with a man, and shots were fired.

Police were told it was only after security ushered Talib, his brother and another man out of the club that a weapon was discharged into the air. The Dallas Police Department responded to the scene from a call that came just after 2 a.m.

When the dispute died down, Talib and his brother departed to another nightclub, but police questioned them before they arrived.

Broncos vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth commented on the matter.

"We have been in touch with Aqib regarding these reports and will continue to monitor this situation," said Smyth, per The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck and Jesse Paul.

The most notable of Talib's troubles away from the gridiron occurred before 2013, but his checkered history does include arrests for assault and battery. Talib acknowledged in the past that he had to check his temper better, and his actions have backed up those pledged words to change.

As a member of the New England Patriots and Broncos in the past two seasons respectively, Talib has qualified for the Pro Bowl, cementing his status as one of the best players at his position.

Although his conduct has improved as of late, the 29-year-old veteran may face discipline from Denver or the NFL in light of this alleged incident.
