Betting Line
SBC Global.com has the Ravens as a 14 point favorite. You should take the Ravens in this game because of Rice’s big game the last time these two teams played. He should go off in a must-win game for this Baltimore team.
What's At Stake?
Baltimore has to win to stay atop of the AFC North Division. With a win against Cleveland, they can stay in the drivers seat for the No. 2 seed in the AFC which will give them a first-round bye and home field advantage for at least one playoff game.
Who Might Not Play for Cleveland
TE Alex Smith: Smith is on injured reserve after suffering a shoulder injury.
QB Colt McCoy: McCoy is questionable after suffering a concussion two-weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
WR Jordan Norwood: Norwood is questionable for Saturday’s game after suffering a head injury last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
Who Might Not Play for Baltimore
K Billy Cundiff: Cundiff is probable for Saturday’s game with a calf injury.
CB Lardarius Webb: Webb is questionable for Saturday’s game after being held to limited minutes last Sunday’s game against San Diego.
Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit' Em and Sleeper
Start ‘Em
Ravens RB Ray Rice: Rice had 204 yards and a touchdown in their last meeting. There’s no way that with the Ravens desperate for a victory this week, they wouldn’t give the ball to Rice this week. You have to start Rice this week against a Browns rushing defense that ranks 31st against the run.
Sit’ Em
Ravens QB Joe Flacco: The Browns are horrible against opposing running backs, but great in shutting down passing offenses. Flacco struggled against the Browns in their first meeting only completing 10 of 23 passes for 158 yards and no touchdowns.
Sleeper
Ravens RB Ricky WIlliams: Williams is a sneaky play this week. Against the Browns in Week 13, Williams had 16 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. He has a great chance to replicate those numbers this week, against the horrible Browns rushing defense.
What They're Saying
""We haven't let it get away yet," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said at his weekly press conference on Monday. "We still have to win our next two games, starting with the Browns. So that's the thing we can control. We have complete control over the next two weeks as far as what we do."
"
""At this point, more than likely he'll be the starter, for sure," said coach Pat Shurmur.
Shurmur said that McCoy is "making progress," but hasn't been cleared by team doctors to return to full work.
"He was here today, had treatment, went to meetings. After meetings, he'll be going home," Shurmur said.
"
Cleveland Player to Watch
QB Seneca Wallace: Wallace led the Browns to coming close to beating the Arizona Cardinals last week on the road. Whenever he touches the ball, he is a threat to make a big play for the Browns offense.
He was able to hit Greg Little on a 76 yard bomb last week, and had a good game with 226 passing yards and 21 rushing yards.
Baltimore Player to Watch
RB Ray Rice: By now you should know that Rice is going to have a huge game against the Browns. You know about his 204 rushing yards against the Browns, and you should know that he has the ability to go off this week.
If the Ravens are going to hold onto their spot as the AFC North leader, they will give the ball to Rice 25 to 30 times.
Key Matchup: Ray Rice vs. the Cleveland Browns Defensive Line/Linebackers
On the year, Cleveland is giving up 145 yards per game. However, last week against the Cardinals, they only gave up 74 yards on 24 attempts.
This week, they will correct their mistakes that led to Rice ripping them for 205 yards three weeks ago at home.
On the Hotseat
Browns head coach Pat Shurmur is in the midst of a disappointing season, going 4-10. The Browns shouldn’t fire Shurmur if this team goes 4-12, 5-11 or 6-10.
However, if they get blown out in Baltimore this week, it may lead to Shurmur getting replaced at the end of the season.
Prediction
The Browns have improved on defending the run over the last two weeks, only giving up 147 and 74 yards after letting the Ravens run all over them for 290. However, Baltimore is coming into this game after seeing Flacco cost the Ravens another victory on the road.
They will give the ball to Rice at least 25 times, and they will let their superstar running back carry them to a victory.
