Tim Tebow SNL Video: Silly Spoof Takes Aim at Tebow's Passion

David DanielsDec 18, 2011

Tim Tebow is the LeBron James of the NFL.  You either love him or hate him.  But while opinion’s on LeBron are formed on interpretation of his selfishness, fans judge Tebow on his selflessness.

Saturday Night Live put on a skit about Tebow poking fun at his passion to praise God.  The mockery isn’t a new development.  Since the lockout ended, a camera has been in Tebow’s face whether the focus is about his failures in training camp or his success in the regular season and in either instance, he always attempts to squeeze God into the conversation.

Many adore him for it, but others voice their annoyance.

According to Sporting News, Jake Plummer revealed his stance on the controversial quarterback to a Phoenix radio station saying:

"

Tebow, regardless of whether I wish he’d just shut up after a game and go hug his teammates, I think he’s a winner and I respect that about him.  I think that when he accepts the fact that we know that he loves Jesus Christ then I think I’ll like him a little better.  I don’t hate him because of that, I just would rather not have to hear that every single time he takes a good snap or makes a good handoff.

"

Even Kurt Warner, one of the most outspoken Christians in the NFL during his day, said Tebow should take it down a notch.  He told Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic his advice for Tebow saying, “Put down the boldness in regards to the words, and keep living the way you’re living.  Let your teammates do the talking for you.  Let them cheer on your testimony.”

Warner gave that warning not to shut up Tebow like Plummer preferred to put it, but because the former MVP is worried that the fiery QB’s faith will be a turnoff and trigger animosity to be directed his way from players around the league.  What annoyed fans and players don’t realize is that Tebow isn’t forcing his beliefs on them; he’s simply following an order.

Jesus’ last words in the Bible, also known as the Great Commission, read: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Tebow’s methods are unconventional and that’s the best way to go if he wants to get his point across.  Conventional is boring and often goes unnoticed.  But while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Tebow’s approach, at the same time, some people understandably just aren’t a fan of a megaphone being stuck in their face to get a message across.

Well, those people better get used to that megaphone because Tebow isn’t going away.
