Tim Tebow: Why Tebow Will Have His First Complete Performance Against Patriots

Peter EmerickDec 16, 2011

Tim Tebow will face the New England Patriots on Sunday at Sports Authority Field in Denver Colorado in what is a must-win for both teams.  The Broncos are trying to win the AFC West and the Patriots are trying to clinch home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

More important than any playoff ramifications, though, is the fact that Tim Tebow is facing off against one of the league's best quarterbacks in Tom Brady.  Good news for Tim Tebow: he won't actually have to take the field against Brady, he gets to face the Patriot's lackluster defense that can't even seem to stop a nose bleed.

Tim Tebow will undoubtedly play his most complete four-quarter game of the season, and it's not because the Broncos' playoff hopes are on his shoulders or that the entire world wants him to fail.

Tebow will show up for four quarters against the Patriots simply because the Patriots' defense is absolutely atrocious.

In the past two weeks, the Patriots' secondary have made Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman look like NFL superstars.

Dan Orlovsky, with the Colts' 27th-ranked passing attack, threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns, completing 30 of 37 passes with a quarterback rating of 113.2 (Orlovsky's only 100+ rating all season). Rex Grossman threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns, completing 19 of 32 passes with a quarterback rating of 92.2.

If Rex Grossman and Dan Orlovsky can look like pro-bowl quarterbacks against the Patriots' secondary, there is no reason why Tim Tebow can't do the same.

Unlike every other game this season, Tim Tebow and the Broncos will rely heavily on their passing game early on in hopes of setting up the NFL's first-ranked rushing attack.

If Tebow can manage a few first downs through the air on his first offensive drive, the Patriots will have to respect the passing game, which will in turn allow Tebow and McGahee to break lose on the ground.

When the Patriots' 12th-ranked rushing defense fails to load the box and stop the rush,Tim Tebow will use his physical rushing style to make the Patriots pay.

In each of the Patriots' three losses of the 2011 season, the defense gave up at least one rushing touchdown and an average of 72.3 rushing yards.  Those numbers will be easy for Tebow to accumulate himself.

The Patriot's aren't physical enough on the defensive line and at the linebacker position to handle Tebow's rare mix of physicality and quickness, earning him an average of at least 6.5 yards per carry in the game.

This matchup between the Broncos and Patriots is the biggest game of Tebow's NFL career.  It is his chance to truly show the entire football "world" that he is a legitimate NFL quarterback and that he can win games against top-tier teams.  I

f there is anything we know for sure about Tim Tebow, it is that he is always up for a challenge, and believe me, he will be more than prepared to face the New England Patriots.

Tim Tebow won't silence critics with his performance against the New England Patriots, but that's only because people will always love to hate on Tebow.

Tebow will have his first complete four-quarter game of the season, mainly because the Patriots' defense won't be able to hang with him, but also because he knows what is on the line for his team in this game.

Tebow will throw for 255 yards and three touchdowns, completing 20 of 29 passes for a completion percentage of 68.9 percent.  Tebow will also rush for 85 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries, earning him a 7.1 yards per carry average for the game.

So will Tebow's complete performance be enough to beat the Patriots?

That all depends on whether or not rookie LB Von Miller will be able to slow down Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski, and I think he will.  Miller will use his rare mix of speed and strength to lock down Gronkowski, holding him to only 95 yards and one touchdown.

The Broncos will beat the Patriots 31 to 27, but this time Tim Tebow won't have to lead a fourth quarter or overtime comeback because he will play the first complete game of his NFL career.

By accounting for 340 total yards and four touchdowns, the legend known as Tim Tebow grows and lives to see another day.
