NBA Rumors: Prime 2011 Free Agents That Will Be off the Market Soon
As predicted, some of the top names on the board came off that board very quickly when the NBA free-agency period began last Friday.
Names like Tyson Chandler, David West, Caron Butler and Marc Gasol are off the board, but there are still plenty of quality names left to be had.
Here's a look at the 10 best remaining free agents that should be off the market very soon.
Nick Young
1 of 10Young is a restricted free agent and hasn't to date signed the Washington Wizards $3.7 million qualifying offer. Washington did sign Roger Mason Jr., but bringing Young back should still be their top priority.
Gilbert Arenas
2 of 10Figuring out whether or not Arenas is even worth investing the time on anymore is the main question teams will face, but money certainly won't be one of them since Orlando will be paying the remainder of his contract after waiving him via the amnesty clause.
Arenas, though, could be tied to Dwight Howard since he said he would like to sign with whichever team Howard is dealt to. New Jersey could be an option for Arenas in that case.
Josh Howard
3 of 10Just a few years ago Howard was one of the more athletic wing players and one of the better defenders in the league. But injuries have slowed him down over the course of the past few seasons, so the market isn't great for him.
Utah is one team currently showing interest.
Carl Landry
4 of 10Landry's overall numbers took a hit a season ago, but he can still score in the paint, so teams will be interested in him. His beginning asking price was high, but if he comes down from that, he could be signed soon.
Despite the turmoil involving the franchise and Chris Paul, Landry is open to returning to New Orleans.
Arron Afflalo
5 of 10Both the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in a possible sign-and-trade with the Denver Nuggets, but he likely won't be going anywhere, as Denver will look to lock up the shooting guard.
Jamal Crawford
6 of 10The Knicks have been trying to acquire Crawford via a sign-and-trade with Atlanta, but the chances of him accepting their $2.5 million offer is very slim.
He wanted to end up in Indiana or Chicago, but both teams passed on him.
The Kicks are still hot after him, as are Portland and Minnesota.
Andrei Kirilenko
7 of 10His original asking price of four-years, $40 million scared many teams off initially, but since he's lowered his price a few teams have shown interest.
Utah would be open to bringing him back and teams such as New Jersey and Sacramento are in on him as well.
Samuel Dalembert
8 of 10Dalembert's choices are slim. Teams such as Dallas and Sacramento have went in different directions and can only offer him a one-year deal. That leaves his options limited, especially if he still wants big money.
The Kings still have the cap room to do a sign-and-trade, but they need to find a suitor first.
Dalembert's best option may be the Houston Rockets who lost out on Marc Gasol.
Rodney Stuckey
9 of 10Everything has been relatively quiet concerning Stuckey so far, but Detroit Pistons president Joe Dumars said that the chances of them matching any offer sheet to the restricted free agent are very high.
Nene
10 of 10Many of the other guys won't come off the board until Nene does. Quite simply, the teams that lose out on him will begin to pursue the respective Plan B's.
It looks like the remaining suitors for Nene are down to Denver, Houston and New Jersey.
He likely will get between $14 and $15 million, but Denver can offer him a fifth year, while the others can only go four years.
