Chris Paul Clippers: Twitter Lights Up with Reaction To Dead NBA Trade

Richard LangfordDec 12, 2011

David Stern and the NBA have killed another trade for Chris Paul. This time it was a deal that would have sent the Hornets' point guard to the Clippers.

The proposed trade was more than fair.

The Hornets had agreed to the terms, and the deal was sent to the league office.

And that is where things reportedly fell apart on Thursday.

Needless to say, fans have plenty to say on Twitter about the NBA killing yet another deal. We'll give you a sampling of all the thoughts floating out there in the Twitterverse and update this post as the day goes on.

The latest updates will appear on top.

David Stern is getting absolutely slammed. His recent role in this debacle has many people calling for his job.

This tweeter thinks retirement is a decision that Stern should not be allowed to make.

Stern has brought this all on himself. The whole situation lends itself to comments like the following.

People calling for his job is not at all surprising. It is impossible to see what his goal is here. He appears to be crippling the Hornets, and in the end, maybe that is what he wants.

This has led to some rampant speculation about what Stern really wants from this trade. This tweeter could be onto something.

While the Commissioner's intentions remain cloudy, he has opened himself up to a slew of comments not all that dissimilar from this.

Criticisms of Stern are reaching an all-time high.

In light of this new rumor, Stern is clearly asking for way too much.

While that rumor may be a touch far fetched, it highlights the absurdity of the situation.

What is extremely baffling about this whole deal is that the Hornets have now turned down two very advantageous trades. They now have a player that is ready to walk away for nothing at the end of the year, and they have set up a situation that is going to make any team very reluctant to offer them a trade. And that makes a team that is on the block very unattractive to new buyers.

In fact, this position is so hard to understand that it is leading fans to draw their own conclusions on Stern's motives, and let's just say they aren't exactly portraying him in a favorable light.
