2011 Bowl Predictions: Winners of the Season's Biggest Bowl Clashes
Now that we know who will match up in this year's college football bowl games, it's officially time to make some brash predictions.
Who's going to be smelling roses at the 2012 Rose Bowl? Who will be hyped at the Sugar Bowl, and just who will take home first at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl?
These questions and many more are on the minds of college football fans all over the globe.
Here are my predictions for the biggest bowl clashes of the season:
Insight Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Iowa
This may go down as one of the most unfair bowl games of all time, as the Iowa Hawkeyes have no business being on the same field as the Oklahoma Sooners.
Even though the Sooners suffered three very disappointing losses after starting the year ranked No.1, they still put up 365.1 passing yards per game and scored an average of 40.3 points a game.
At 7-5 and 4-4 in the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes are just about average at everything statistically, but they are going to look horrible against the far superior Big 12 power.
Winner: Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Stanford
Other than the national championship, this game is certain to be the best matchup of the season. The Cowboys and Cardinal have two of the best quarterbacks in the league under center in Brandon Weeden and Andrew Luck, and they are second and fifth in the nation in points per game respectively.
This will be the ultimate battle of incredible offenses, but I think in the end Luck will show us why he's the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
Winner: Stanford
Allstate BCS National Championship: LSU vs. Alabama
This will be billed as a rematch of the most epic game of all time, which makes this the most epic rematch of all time.
Last time these two teams played, they were ranked No. 1 and No. 2, as they are now, and LSU pulled off a 9-6 overtime win in a huge defensive struggle.
While both teams are still more or less the same, LSU has shown some flaws on offense when it comes to dealing with pressure, and Alabama is fielding the nation's No. 1 offense, giving up only 8.8 points per game.
I also think Heisman candidate Trent Richardson is going to have a huge game, which will tilt the field in Alabama's favor.
Winner: Alabama
