Pac-12 Championship Game: Oregon Will Romp in What Equates to an Exhibition
The fact that this game is even taking place shows that the conference championship and BCS system is drastically flawed. I am a life long UCLA Bruins fan, but the team doesn't deserve to participate in the Pac-12 championship game. This figures to be the most lopsided of all the conference championship games played.
The Bruins are as overmatched for this game as they were last week against the USC. The only difference is that they will be destroyed by land as opposed to through the air, as was the case in the game against the Trojans.
The fact the game is being held at Oregon makes for an even bigger mismatch. Bruins head coach Rick Neuheisel was told he would be dismissed after the team lost 50-0 to the Trojans last week, but UCLA has decided to let him coach this final game; gee, thanks.
At 6-6, a loss for the Bruins would mean they need a special waiver to play in a bowl game. I suppose it is possible the Bruins will draw some inspiration of wanting to perform for their fired coach, but that isn't likely to help the 87th best defense in the nation stop the fifth highest scoring offense.
These teams both run the ball effectively, but the Bruins aren't in the Ducks league in this category. They are a respectable 29th overall, while the Ducks are fifth.
This will serve as nothing more than a tune-up for LaMichael James and the Ducks. I wouldn't even expect to see James and many of the other starters in, past the third quarter.
