WWE Survivor Series 2011: Miz and R-Truth Should Win, and so Should...
I know; an Awesome Truth victory over The Rock and John Cena at the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series is about as likely as the Colts hosting their own Super Bowl this season, right?
For reasons already outlined, it shouldn't.
However, my gut feeling is that the Pie And Fruity Pebbles Connection will pull off a victory, then follow it up with the obligatory stare down/beat down "I'll see you at Wrestlemania" routine.
I hope I am wrong, as the Cena/Rock rivalry would be enhanced by a loss tonight, not to mention the boost to the status of Miz and Truth as the top heels in the company.
WWE writers seem to have forgotten that heels have to win at least some of the time. So, in addition to Awesome Truth, here are some others who deserve (but won't necessarily get) victories at Madison Square Garden tonight.
Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison
1 of 4Yes, both of them, even though they are facing each other. Conventional wisdom says one of two of things: either Ziggler will win and Morrison will fade away as his contract expires, or Morrison will win, signaling that he is re-signing with the big boys.
What I'd like to see: Just before the match begins, Zack Ryder hits the ring with his petition, gripes about being turned down by John Laryngitis (Santino Marella (TM)), then gets beaten down by both Ziggler and Morrison. Morrison then reveals he has signed on with Vicki Guerrero's stable. For Morrison, that would mean a new contract with WWE and, thankfully, WWE could keep him 100 miles away from a live microphone.
What will happen: Ziggler will win, perhaps by nefarious means. Morrison will go to TNA, where (like other TNA stars) he can compensate for his lack of mic skills by saying "ass", "balls", and "pri**" all the time.
Randy Orton, Who Should Immediately Turn Heel
2 of 4Let's face the facts. Despite the female populace which loves cheering for Randy Orton, he is much more fun to watch as a heel. His babyface promos are the best substitute for Sominex since Lanny Poffo's poetry.
What I'd like to see: Randy Orton getting the win despite having trouble working with his team, then turning around and beating the tar out of Sheamus and whoever else from his team is left at ringside. He completes the full heel turn on Smackdown next week.
What will happen: Orton will win, and WWE will continue to have no idea what to do with him as a good guy.
Mark Henry
3 of 4Admittedly, this is the least compelling match on the Survivor Series card (and no, the Divas match doesn't count!). Other than the impressive superplex into the gimmicked ring at Vengeance, watching Big Show and Mark Henry is like watching two mules fight over a turnip—massive mules, but mules nonetheless.
What I'd like to see and what will happen: a clean win for Mark Henry. He is, slowly but surely, getting better on the mic, and it looks as if WWE is building toward a Henry/Daniel Bryan match at Wrestlemania, which has the chance to be compelling if executed properly.
Alberto Del Rio
4 of 4Completing my wish list, I realize that my desire is to see the heels, or a variation, win all of the matches on the Survivor Series card. In today's WWE, a Kevin Nash top rope hurricanrana is more likely.
However, the WWE could make a bold statement by letting Del Rio get a win over CM Punk, cementing his status as one of the top guys for 2012, even if he loses the WWE Championship to punk before the end of the year.
What I'd like to see: Del Rio get the win, thanks to outside interference again, followed by Del Rio transforming into a Latin ladies' man personality—it possibly was teased with his bit with the Bella Twins last week. Alberto was more fun to watch several months ago, when he acted as if the fans were cheering him during his promos.
What will happen: Del Rio will win, his character won't change too much, and Punk will get the WWE title as a Christmas present.
