Tim Tebow: Denver Broncos QB Makes Winning NFL Teams 30-1 Against the Spread

Jeff GrantNov 18, 2011

Las Vegas bookmakers were left shaking their heads on Thursday night. Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow scampered in from 20 yards out with less than one minute remaining to capture a 17-13 victory over the New York Jets. They were six-point home underdogs

Winning teams in the National Football League are an astounding 30-1 against the spread since Week 9.

Betting on pro football is generally accepted as the most difficult game to beat in town due to the amount of time oddsmakers spend on creating the betting odds. However, bettors have found that the spread is just a number over the last two-plus weeks.

The Broncos definitely scored a major victory for the sports books in terms of straight-bets last night. Heavy action was received on the high-profile New York Jets, especially with fans coming in with a mindset that it was a must-win game for Rex Ryan's squad.

Denver was also a highly-motivated team coming into the Week 11 affair. They have now balanced their record at 5-5, despite being outscored by 42 points on the season, and remain alive in the AFC West.

The remaining schedule is certainly challenging over the next four weeks. The Broncos start off with road games against the San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings, before returning to the Mile High City to host the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots.

A phenomenon is happening in the NFL with a signal-caller that has willed his team to four wins in five starts, while completing just 44.8 percent of his passes.

Some will say the same thing is happening in sports books up and down the Las Vegas strip, as beating the odds has been as simple as picking a winner in the last couple of weeks.

Sports bettors will be watching both storylines closely.
