OMEGA: Uncommon Passions
So many people have heard of the rise and aall of ECW. Many people know of the WCW/WWE feud and the Monday Night Wars. But how many people honestly know of OMEGA?
OMEGA was the breeding ground of independent wrestling in the Carolinas in the 90s. The OMEGA roster was full of hidden talents who later made names for themselves in higher promotions. Six of the wrestlers from OMEGA have gone on to win titles in the WWE, while three have gone on to win major heavyweight championships. Two of those three are Matt and Jeff Hardy.
So, now you may ask, "Who and what is OMEGA?"

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
It all started in the small rural town of Southern Pines, North Carolina, where dreams and passions would come true for many aspiring wrestlers. OMEGA—Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts—was created by the brains and passion of WWE's Matt Hardy.
All in a night's work, Hardy was serving as the booker, creative writer, trainer, and at times, clothing designer for OMEGA—not to mention his hard, dedicated work as a wrestler. With the help from wrestling promoter and friend Thomas Simpson, the Hardy brothers were the ringleaders of OMEGA.
OMEGA was known for its high-flying risk-taking and disregard for the safety of the human body—but even that doesn't do OMEGA Wrestling enough honor.
OMEGA was all about doing stunts and spots that had never seen before, from 450 Splashes to dives off of semi-truck trailers. OMEGA was the breeding ground for cruiserweight wrestling in America.
OMEGA's roster included the following: current WWE and ECW Champions Jeff and Matt Hardy, former NWA and ECW Champion Steve Corino, former WCW Champion Shannon Moore, the WWE's longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion, Gregory Helms, former WWE Tag Team Champion Joey "Mercury" Matthews, former WWF Hardcore Champion Joey Abs, former NWA Tag Team Champion Christian York, and former ECW alumnus C.W. Anderson.
After Matt and Jeff Hardy left OMEGA for WWF in 1999, the fire and passion behind OMEGA wrestling left the building—and OMEGA would be discontinued. But the passion and fire that characterized OMEGA has yet to be seen in any wrestling organization in the United States since 1999.
