DeSean Jackson: Updates on Eagles WR's Week 11 Suspension and Fantasy Value

Adam WellsNov 14, 2011

Adding insult to injury, DeSean Jackson can’t seem to hear the alarm clock in order to wake up in time for Philadelphia Eagles team meetings. That indiscretion led to him being suspended for Week 10 against Arizona and there could be further ramifications.

UPDATE: Monday, Nov. 14 at 1:05 p.m. ET

All appears to be right with Jackson and the Eagles today, at least that is the message from head coach Andy Reid

From Geoff Mosher, who covers the Eagles for The News Journal of Wilmington:

So for you fantasy owners who were lamenting the loss of Jackson's big-play capabilities, fear not, he will be back on the field as a starting wide receiver this Sunday. That is unless he misses another wake-up call.

Jackson is the best receiver the Eagles have, and his absence was clearly felt as they only scored 17 points and Michael Vick had no rhythm when he dropped back to pass.

Now, with the Eagles looking like a disaster of epic proportions, Jackson and the Eagles have become the brunt of jokes.

This incident could not have come at a worse time for Jackson or the Eagles. He is in the midst of a contract dispute. He wants to get paid like one of the best receivers in the NFL. The team has struggled all season and needed a win to get back in the race in the NFC East.

Instead, Jackson will have to convince a team that he is a trustworthy player if/when he becomes a free agent, and the Eagles fell to 3-6 after losing to an Arizona team led by John Skelton.

As John Smallwood of the Philadelphia Daily News wrote, Jackson doesn't deserve what he is looking for from the Eagles.

"

But if his argument is that he deserves to be paid like an elite No. 1 receiver, he's in a dream world. Jackson is a high-quality receiver, but he is not in the "elite" category.

If you look at this realistically, Eagles management put Jackson on trial. It gave him a chance to swing the argument in his favor that he deserves to be paid like the best.

He fumbled.

"

We will have the latest news and information on Jackson and his status for Week 11 against the New York Giants, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back throughout the week for updates.
