Reggie Bush: Could 2nd 100-Yard Day of Career Be Sign of Things to Come?
Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush hasn't had much success with his new team this season. From being part of a wholly unproductive offense to a coaching staff that hasn't properly utilized his talents, Bush hasn't had much of a chance to showcase his skills.
But it's not just the team that's to blame. He wasn't very successful as a New Orleans Saint, either, with just one game with over 100 rushing yards coming in Week 16 of 2006 against the New York Giants.
This week, Bush had his second 100-yard rushing game of his career, with 15 carries for 103 yards and another 17 yards on four catches, again facing the New York Giants. However, this doesn't really say much about his chances for success going forward.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Bush was the starting running back in today's game simply because the usual starter, Daniel Thomas, was out with a hamstring injury. At the same time, the recently-acquired Steve Slaton had the primary goal-line responsibility.
It doesn't bode well for his chances to repeat this showing anytime soon, simply because it's been nearly five years since he's had 100 yards, and because he won't get the same opportunities once Thomas returns from his injury (likely next week).
Prior to today's game, Bush was averaging just 3.9 yards per carry. He's not skilled at breaking tackles, as he just doesn't have the size, and it's clear that the team cannot figure out a way to get him more successfully involved in the passing game. Quarterback Matt Moore clearly prefers to throw to his more traditional receivers—Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess and Brian Hartline—rather than to his undersized back.
While today's performance means that Bush indeed has 100-yard games in him, and it is a good sign that he can in fact be of use to some team, that team still may not be the Dolphins.
Further, it's looking like those 103 rushing yards are more of a fluke than proof that he's going to be pulling down those kinds of numbers on a weekly basis from here on out. Considering his role on the team, it's highly unlikely we'll be seeing 100 yards from Bush as a Dolphin again this season.
