Fantasy Football Week 8: DeMarco Murray and More Primetime Must-Plays

Richard LangfordOct 30, 2011

DeMarco Murray will put up his second consecutive very productive fantasy week. He needs to be in starting in any lineup.

He is not the only player in the primetime games that is going to produce either. Here are three running backs that aren't every week starters, but need to be starting this week.

Opponent: Eagles

Murray exploded on the scene last week as he rushed for over 250 yards in the place of starter Felix Jones.

While it would be ridiculous to expect anywhere near similar production, it is not ridiculous to expect a very solid game.

The Eagles have been absolutely horrible on run defense this season, and the Cowboys will look to exploit that as much as possible. We've already seen that Murray is capable of taking what a defense gives him.

Prediction: Murray, 26 carries, 124 yards, 1 TD

San Diego Chargers' Running Back Ryan Mathews

Opponent: Chiefs

The Chiefs defense is getting better each week, and they are getting particularly better in rush defense. They have a strong defensive line against the rush.

However, one of the few backs that has had success against the the Chiefs lately is Ryan Mathews. He had 21 carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns when these two met in Week 3.

The Chargers will give him plenty of opportunities to duplicate those numbers. I don't expect him to put up those kinds of points, but he is still worth at least a flex start.

Prediction: 19 carries, 82 yards, 1 TD

Kansas City Chiefs' Running Back Jackie Battle

Opponent: Chargers

Jackie Battle is now the lead back for a team that is made to run the football. This means good things for Battle.

He still has to deal with splitting carries with Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster, but you can expect 15-20 carries each game from Battle.

Against the Chargers, this is a good thing. The Chargers are 21st in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game.

Prediction: Battle 17 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD
