Manny Pacquiao Primed to Answer One of Two Remaining Questions on Legacy
Manny Pacquiao is far closer to the end of his career than its illustrious beginning. That means the next few fights will go a long way to answer looming questions we have of the legend. In a couple weeks, he will answer one of the biggest.
Juan Manuel Marquez has loomed like a blemish on an otherwise flawless second half of a career. The two have battled to the bitter end on both their fights.
Unanimous wasn't a luxury that Pacquiao was able to wrangle from Pacquiao versus Marquez I and II. The third bout will go a long way to answer once and for all if the two are near equals, or if Pac-Man has indeed left Marquez in the dust.
That would be one question of two that fans are dying to know. The biggest and best may never be answered. Despite headway being made between the two, there is still a chance we may never know for certain who would win between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
It may be the biggest conundrum in all of sports. That last question would determine whether Pacquiao is indeed the best fighter of this generation.
A beatdown on Money May may even push Pacquiao into the upper echelon of greatest pugilist to ever step into the ring.
For now, we will settle for an answer to the lesser of question marks on this legacy. And believe me, it is still an intriguing question that will put an added shine on a career that has been no less than remarkable.
A flourishing win against Marquez would put to bed the notion that Pacquiao has an equal walking the streets. We can discuss Mayweather all we want, but the fact that the two have never fought makes it a myth of the highest order.
Marquez on the other hand has been the closest to taking a win in Pacquiao's prime. Nov. 12 looms as the best way to put another piece of evidence that Pacquiao is the best into a growing pile.
Athletes are hardly afforded a chance to silence every last bit of criticism. Pacquiao, as it were, has the opportunity to get dangerously close.
