Oregon Ducks Football: 5 Things to Look for vs. Washington State Cougars
This week the Oregon Ducks return home for a game against the Washington State Cougars. When the Cougars find their way to Autzen Stadium, they will be without starting quarterback Jeff Tuel, and in big trouble.
Washington State is not the only team dealing with injuries as Oregon has been without star running back LaMichael James for two games, and quarterback Darron Thomas for almost a game-and-a-half.
When you head into Autzen or sit down to watch the game, here are five things you can look for when the Ducks take on the Cougars.
The Duck Keeping You Entertained in the Second Half
1 of 5When a backup quarterback makes a start at Autzen, things do not go well.
Not only do the Cougars lack the talent to keep up with the Ducks, but without Jeff Tuel, things could get ugly early in this game.
With that said, the Duck will be out in force keeping the crowd and audience entertained and ensuring that everyone has a great time cheering on their Ducks.
More Bryan Bennett
2 of 5Despite stating that he is 100 percent, QB Darron Thomas still does not have to be rushed back.
If anything, what you will see is Thomas stepping in to start the game and getting used to the flow of going full speed, but expect Bryan Bennett to get the majority of the snaps.
The great part about this Oregon team is that despite the injury to Thomas, they have the talent to put in another player to keep the Oregon offense rolling.
No LaMichael James
3 of 5I believe that Darron Thomas is closer to being 100 percent than LaMichael James.
James has been getting day after day, but the injury versus Cal looked so bad, it appeared it was his last play of the year.
With the Ducks taking on Washington State, there is no reason to put him back in until the Ducks take on Washington.
Heavy Dose of DeAnthony Thomas
4 of 5With the limits on LaMichael James and Darron Thomas, expect to see more of freshman sensation DeAnthony Thomas.
Since the LSU game, Thomas has shown the ability to be a game changer and has played beyond expectations.
With yet another opportunity to show off his skill sets, look for Thomas to get in the Autzen end zone once again.
Straight Forward Gameplan by Chip Kelly
5 of 5In a game that Oregon should not struggle to win, and with Washington, Stanford and USC coming up, the Ducks and Chip Kelly will not be looking to tip their hand with any plays that may still be deep in their playbook.
Against Washington State, you can expect to see a straight forward rushing attack, and for the Ducks to play things close to the vest.
