Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Brent Celek and Other TEs You Must Start
If you get any significant points out of your tight end spot in a given week, consider yourself lucky. Tight ends tend to produce when they want to, and it seems like they never want to.
That's what makes choosing which tight end to start so tough. A lot of times, you're rolling the dice.
I fear that this will always be the case. However, I think there are four tight ends that you need to be starting in Week 8. You won't regret it.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
4. Daniel Fells, Denver Broncos
Thanks in large part to Tim Tebow's horrific passing, Daniel Fells ended up with just two catches on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Lucky for the Broncos, Fells' two catches were huge. One went for 28 yards and the other went for a touchdown.
Now, it's true that we're probably never going to know what Tebow is going to do week in and week out, but there is something to be said about the way in which he hooked up with Fells for two huge passes late in Sunday's game. If the chips are down against the Detroit Lions, perhaps Tebow will look Fells' way again.
And make no mistake about it, the chips will be down against the Lions.
3. Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles
Even by tight end standards, Brent Celek is having just an okay season. He has just 13 catches for 115 yards.
However, Celek did grab his first touchdown catch of the season the last time we saw the Eagles in Week 6. On Sunday, the Eagles are playing an opponent in the Dallas Cowboys that may force the Eagles to incorporate Celek.
The reason for this is that the Eagles use Celek primarily as a blocker, but even he might not be able to stop the Cowboys from getting to LeSean McCoy. They have the league's best rushing defense, so you have to think they're going to corral McCoy like they've corralled every other running back they've come across.
If so, Celek may find himself lining up and running out for more passes than usual.
2. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans
Owen Daniels is a guy that you should probably be starting anyway, but you can rest easy if you have any doubts about him going up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
You may not be aware of this, but the Jags have had a very tough time limiting opposing tight ends this season. Two tight ends have hauled in more than 100 receiving yards against them and they've given up four touchdowns to tight ends.
Given this, I would say Daniels is a safe play.
1. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
Vernon Davis is another guy who should always be in your starting lineup, but I'd understand if you have concerns about him after his two-catch, eight-yard performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 6.
But I wouldn't be worried about Davis against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have also done poorly against tight ends this season, giving up a total of five touchdown passes to tight ends.
Besides which, Davis could be in the same boat as Celek. The Browns have been tough against the run at times this year and Frank Gore's loss could be Davis' gain.
