Justin Blackmon Injury: How Is the Cowboys' Star WR's Shoulder
Justin Blackmon, the Oklahoma State Cowboys' top wide receiver, left today's game against Missouri in the second half with an apparent shoulder injury and possible concussion-like symptoms.
Blackmon had been terrorizing the Tigers' defense before he was knocked out, catching eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys had a two or three touchdown lead for most of the second half, so there was no need for Blackmon to return. They ended up winning 45-24.
Immediate Impact on Rankings
Blackmon's injury won't have much of an impact on the fourth ranked Cowboys' current position in the standings.
Blackmon was being held out as a "precautionary measure," so I doubt he will miss next week's game against Robert Griffith III and Baylor.
If the Cowboys are upset, then they will obviously drop. This week, they will stay put.
Bowl Devastation Scale
On a scale from 1-10, I'll say this registers a four.
The only way this will have a major affect on the Cowboys' bowl prospects is if they get upset by Baylor next week.
Quarterback Brandon Weeden will need all his weapons to keep up with Griffith III, so Blackmon's absence could be critical.
When He's Ready to Return
Blackmon' status is currently questionable for next week, as their simply isn't enough information at this point.
Further updates will be provided.
What They're Saying
Blackmon's injury was initially thought to be a concussion, but it was later deemed to be a shoulder injury.
