Week 7 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Darrius Heyward-Bey and Sleepers to Sit

Tim KeeneyOct 22, 2011

Week 7 is likely to be one of the harshest bye weeks for fantasy owners of the season.

The whole Patriots passing attack is on a bye. Fred Jackson is on a bye. Frank Gore is on a bye. Hakeem Nicks, Ahmad Bradshaw, the list goes on.

Luckily for fantasy owners, there is a slew of sleepers still sitting out there on the waiver wire.

With that being said, however, he's a look at three very popular sleepers who you might be wise to stay away from this week.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, Oakland Raiders

Heyward-Bey is starting to get lots of attention in fantasy leagues, and he very well should be as he's pulled in 17 catches for 296 yards and a touchdown in the last three games.

Those games were all under Jason Campbell, however.

Kyle Boller, contrary to popular belief, is not Jason Campbell and reports are saying that Boller will start Sunday instead of Carson Palmer.

Palmer has the type of arm that can make Heyward-Bey relevant in fantasy leagues, but it's unlikely Boller will connect on many long throws.

If you're banking on DHB in a flex spot, go for it. He'll still likely get the most looks for Oakland, but don't expect any huge numbers.

Eric Decker, Denver Broncos

I love that Decker is the new No. 1 in Denver. I love how much he produced when Brandon Lloyd was injured. I even love his value for the rest of the year.

With that being said, I'm not all that confident throwing him out in the starting lineup before seeing how well Tim Tebow can distribute the ball.

Kyle Orton may not have been the best real-life option, but he could sling it. Tebow, on the other hand, doesn't strike me as a legitimate deep threat.

Decker should still see a good amount of looks, but I'm not sure he'll put up a ton of yards. I'm going to treat this as a wait-and-see approach.

He's flex material only right now.

Montario Hardesty, Cleveland Browns

Lots of people are jumping all over Hardesty now that it appears Peyton Hillis is expected to miss this game.

Never underestimate a running back who will get a starter's amount of carries, but this is a horrible matchup for the rookie.

The Seahawks are giving up just 3.1 yards per carry (best in the NFL) and Cleveland's running game is a mess. I expect Colt McCoy to throw it more than 40 times.

Hardesty might get a little involved, but he'll probably only get 15 unproductive carries against Seattle's stout front seven.

If you have a flex spot and are in need because of byes it's hard to bench Hardesty, but he's outside my top 20 running backs right now.
