Wild Sunday: Pats Come-Back, Jets Fall Down, and Fantasy Owners Rejoice
Whew. What a Sunday! While I was (gleefully) watching the Eagles beat the Giants, I thought: this is going to be an interesting day.
Sure enough, I was right. By the end of the day, the AFC East was in a three-way tie, the Cowboys had lost a very, very messy game (on both sides) to the Steelers, and all of a sudden, Pats fans had to put their shovels away.
While we do not currently lead the Wild Card, we are in a tie for first with the AFC East. We were losing to the SEAHAWKS! They are terrible, but that just highlights how BAD the defense is. But then, there was a miracle, and Matt Cassel and Wes Welker hooked up for a two-point conversion, and suddenly, they had a chance.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If they had lost this game, the Patriots season would be effectively over. But a little help from Junior Seau (yes, he's back) Meriweather, and Richard Seymour. The Pats are now 18-1 following a loss since 2003. (wow!)
While the Patriots injuries continue to plague them ( Bruschi, Wilfork, Woods and Sanders) they continue to be in the hunt for the playoffs. Without Tom Brady. Without Lawrence Maroney. With half the team on crutches and in casts. I mean, what the heck?
Our schedule is favorable to a possible playoff bid. We play at Oakland, then home for Arizona, who will most likely be resting their starters since they already clinched the otherwise atrocious NFC West, then end the season at Buffalo, who, though they started strong, seem to have lost something after game six.
Those tied with us in the AFC East: The Dolphins, who play the 49ers (hopefully excited after their win against the Jets), Kansas City, and the Jets. The Jets play Buffalo, Seattle, and the Dolphins.
It all comes down to the last three weeks, with all three teams playing to stay alive. Of course, if the Ravens or Colts start tanking miserably (not likely), then all bets are off.
Now onto the Jets loss to the 49ers. An 8-4 team lost to a 4-8 team, who did their very best to hand the game over (so many fumbles!). If that wasn't a stroke of luck for New England and Miami, I don't know what was.
Finally, onto Fantasy. Owners of Brian Westbrook, Wes Welker, Brandon Marshall, and either the Pitt or Dallas defense rejoice! I kind of wish I'd played Pittsburgh's defense, cause they got 23 points, but Dallas didn't do half bad, coming in with 11 points.
If your fantasy league is points per reception, Wes Welker was golden, getting 12 receptions for 134 yards and a 2-point conversion (24 points). Brandon Marshall caught 11 balls for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns (30 points).
And Westbrook? lets just say he was the fantasy champ this week, racking up 63 points for someone in my league (sadly, not me, but I have Turner and LT, so I'm not complaining). The average in my league for a RB is 30 and for a WR, its 12.
I'm interested to see how the rest of the season pans out. Go Pats!
