NFL Predictions Week 7: Roddy White and Top 4 WRs Guaranteed to Struggle
It's almost more surprising to see a wide receiver struggle than a quarterback, because a stud receiver struggling in a pass-happy league should never occur, right?
For as much as teams throw the rock these days, a bad game could mean something like five catches for 50 yards and no TDs, which in fact isn't a bad game by any means.
However, since the bar has been raised for WRs to perform each week, don't be surprised if this happens more often than not.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
With that, here are the Top four WRs who are guaranteed to struggle in Week 7.
4. Steve Smith, Panthers (vs Redskins)
He's definitely Cam Newton's favorite target, and rightfully so, because Steve Smith has been dominating all year.
However, the Atlanta Falcons may have found the recipe for success in slowing the Newton-Smith connection down, despite having the No. 27 ranked pass defense.
Last week Smith was held to just 66 yards on five receptions, no TDs and he even fumbled once.
This week Carolina plays host to the Washington "we need a win because Rex Grossman threw four picks" Redskins, who happen to have the No. 9 ranked pass and No. 11 ranked rush defense.
Smith will see double coverage all day, and Washington will blitz Newton until the Panthers keep nine players in to block for him.
Prediction: Four catches, 47 yards, no TDs
3. Roddy White, Falcons (at Lions)
The main reason why Roddy White struggles this week is because the Lions have the No. 26 ranked rush defense, meaning RB Michael Turner should be used a lot more. In addition, Detroit also has the No. 6 ranked pass defense, so QB Matt Ryan has his hands full regardless.
Now, include Roddy's recent injured knee and he's not going to be 100 percent against one of the NFL's best teams.
Detroit is angry after the home loss to San Fran last week and, unfortunately for Atlanta, the Lions will take their frustration out on them.
White doesn't produce, the Falcons lose and it's a long trip back to Atlanta, GA on Sunday afternoon.
Prediction: Three catches, 38 yards, no TDs
2. Brandon Lloyd, Rams (at Cowboys)
Yes, Brandon Lloyd provides a big boost to the Rams' offense, but his production won't be very high in Week 7 as St. Louis makes the trip to Dallas.
For starters, St. Louis ranks No. 23 in rush offense to Dallas' No. 1 rush defense, so the Rams will be forced to throw the ball early and often. That should help, right? Wrong.
In turn, that will free up pass rusher DeMarcus Ware to tee off on already injured QB Sam Bradford. He's going to feel pressure all day, and Lloyd will see double-coverage everywhere he goes.
Plus, the Cowboys are desperate for a W and the Rams aren't going to just show up with a new stud WR and stand in their way. St. Louis still has a lot of improving to do before Lloyd can be effective.
Prediction: Four catches, 35 yards, no TDs
1. Vincent Jackson, Chargers (at Jets)
If there's one area where the New York Jets have a shot at beating the San Diego Chargers, it's with their pass defense.
Currently New York ranks No. 5 in pass defense, so even before the Bolts try to throw the ball, except QB Philip Rivers to be doing a lot of handoffs and toss plays.
While that's going on, the Jets aren't going to be manipulated in the secondary, because Jim Leonhard, Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie will shut-down Vincent Jackson and company.
San Diego wins this game, but much is attributed to Jackson's size, which allows him to stock-block downfield for RBs Ryan Matthews and Mike Tolbert.
Prediction: Three catches, 30 yards, no TDs
