Fantasy Football Week 6: Start 'em/Sit 'em for the Entire NFL in Week 6

Joe Rapolla Jr.Oct 16, 2011

Week 5 Summary:

I made some very good and some very bad calls in week 5. The pick of the week on my end was sitting Darren McFadden. Run DMC, who has been a stud this season, had a very off week and I foresaw it happening. I pat myself on the back.

I slap myself in the face, however, for thinking that Matt Ryan would have a huge game in Green Bay. I recommended starting him over Michael Vick. That didn't pan out too well.

I over-evaluated the power of the matchup last week. I assumed that Ryan's favorable matchup would equal production, despite his lack of it. The matchup is important in fantasy football, but even more important is to look at how a player has been performing.

That's why, despite a technically bad matchup this week, I recommend going full steam ahead with Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best. The San Francisco 49ers have not let up a 100-yard-rushing game in 15 games, but just like Brett Favre's 297 consecutive starts, all great streaks must come to an end. Best has been playing great, and he will render this streak history.

Onto the rest of the league:

Quarterback Starts

-Cam Newton: He's playing well, the game will be a shootout vs. the Falcons

-Joe Flacco: I think he and the Ravens will eat up the Texans

-Eli Manning: He might toss a pick, but this game will be high-scoring

-Matt Ryan: He'll remind people why he's a top-flight QB.

Quarterback Sits:

-Andy Dalton: I foresee a sloppy game between the Bengals and Colts

-Matt Schaub: He's shown us that AJ is his best, and only, good target

-Rex Grossman: If the Redskins do beat the Eagles, it will be on the ground

-Sam Bradford: Until we see otherwise, no

Running Back Starts

-Fred Jackson: Until he shows us otherwise, he's a must-start

-Montario Hardesty: Need a bye-week replacement? Here's a good option

-Benjarvus Green-Ellis: The Patriots will control the clock by using the Law Firm

-Earnest Graham: In place of an injured LeGarette Blount, I foresee a big day

-Ryan Torain: Philly's rush defense has been, let's say, awful

Running Back Sits:

-Michael Turner: This will be a passing battle

-Rashard Mendenhall: The Jags are surprisingly good against the run

-Shonn Greene: Not that his role is too large anyway, it won't change this week

Wide Receiver Starts

-Steve Smith: Cam is good, and he loves him some Steve Smith

-Michael Crabtree: With Josh Morgan and Braylon Edwards out, it's his time to shine

-Emmanuel Sanders: He'll be Ben's top target of the day with a Wallace heavily covered-Dez Bryant: He's been looking good and has a great matchup

-Pierre Garcon: If you haven't noticed, Painter LOVES him

Wide Receiver Sits:

-Stevie Johnson: The Giants will put too much pressure on him

-Percy Harvin: I think this game will be more Adrian Peterson vs. Matt Forte

-Mike Williams (TB): He hasn't been what he was last year

-Jordy Nelson: Jennings will get his looks, but the Packers will go up by a lot, very fast

Tight End Starts

-Scott Chandler: I might be eating my words come Monday, but I like him to score

-Dustin Keller: Expect a rebound week against the Dolphins

-Greg Olsen: He's Cam's favorite red-zone target

Tight End Sits:

-Fred Davis: Like I said, the Redskins rushing will control this game, if anything

-Kellen Winslow: He's disappeared, and can't be trusted

-Owen Daniels: Baltimore knows how to cover a tight end
