Muhammed Ali: Legendary Boxer in New Fight over Purchased Mansion

T.J. McaloonOct 12, 2011

In Muhammad Ali’s words, he’s the greatest of all time.

He’s won boxing matches over the best heavyweight boxers in the history of the sport. He’s won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1960, he’s won 56 boxing matches and is a nine-time Heavyweight Champion.

He’s an advocate in the fight against Parkinson’s Disease—a disease that has taken over the former heavyweight champion’s body since 1984, a disease that Ali is suffering through after years of taking blows to the head from boxing.

But his latest fights aren’t against a boxer or a disease.

It’s against a home owner and a Canadian online book publisher.

According to TMZ,

"

Muhammad Ali is ready for another big fight ... because he's suing a married couple that sold him a home that even Ty Pennington couldn't fix.

Ali and his wife, Yolanda, claim they bought the Louisville mansion back in 2006, and almost immediately discovered an array of ghastly problems, including a leaky roof, leaky chimney, mold and structurally defective decking.

Ali and Yolanda say the unkindest cut of all is that the sellers knew the problems existed and then set out to deceive the greatest fighter of all time.

Ali and Yolanda are suing for unspecified damages.

"

The original owners have yet to release a statement in response to the claims by the Ali’s.

This isn’t the first time that the former boxing champion has found himself in the legal ring, as earlier this year, Ali’s company sued the company Kobo, an electronic book-reading device, for using Ali’s slogan “Float like a butterfly, stink like a bee” in one of their advertisements without Ali’s permission.

In the lawsuit, Ali’s team of lawyers said the advertisement “made commercial use of the Muhammad Ali slogan and Muhammad Ali’s name without permission from or compensation to Muhammad Ali Enterprises.”

Both lawsuits are pending, and both are being handled by each parties’ legal teams.

The life for a retired boxer, like Ali, is a life without fights in the ring. Now, Ali is fighting in the courts, where it looks like he will be scoring a legal TKO in these lawsuits.
