BCS Standings 2011: Boise State and 3 Teams Who Will Be Shafted by Rankings
The 2011 BCS standings will be revealed on Sunday, Oct. 16, following this weekend's college football action.
It will be interesting to see which team ends up in the No. 1 and No. 2 spot.
LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma are considered the top three teams in the country, and one of them will essentially be left out of the BCS National Championship game in the first rankings. In the long run, it really doesn't matter, as LSU and Alabama are scheduled to meet in November, with the winner likely ending up as the No. 1 team in the country.
While those three teams don't have to worry about being shafted by the rankings, there are other teams who have to worry.
Boise State Broncos
The Broncos get shafted seemingly every year. They go undefeated or lose one game every year, but rarely find themselves in a BCS game.
The Broncos attempted to start their season off with a difficult game in the Georgia Dome against the Georgia Bulldogs, who were considered a front-runner in the SEC East.
Since then, Georgia has fallen apart, and that win no longer looks as impressive.
If Boise State wins out they should still qualify for a BSC game, but they were hoping to be in the national championship talk, which no longer seems like a possibility with teams like Wisconsin also impressing.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
At 6-0, Georgia Tech looks like a serious threat to win the ACC. They knocked off an underrated North Carolina team a couple weeks ago and defeated Maryland this past week.
They aren't in the Top 10 in either the AP or Coaches Poll, but they have one of the most dynamic rushing attacks in the country and weapons at the WR position.
Their defense has been better than expected this season, and they should be ahead of teams like Michigan at this point.
Houston Cougars
Another 6-0 team that won't find themselves making any noise in the BCS rankings.
The Cougars are incredibly talented, but they have such a soft schedule that they get no recognition. They have the best passing attack in the country behind senior QB Case Keenum.
Keenum had the Cougars in the Top 25 last season, before going out for the year with a knee injury.
He has bounced back this season and should find himself in the Heisman talk very soon.
