WWE: Will Dana White Let Brock Lesnar Wrestle Undertaker at WrestleMania 28?

Adam WellsOct 11, 2011

Nearly one year ago to the day, Brock Lesnar lost the UFC heavyweight championship to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121. What followed was one of the most memorable moments of the year as Lesnar stared down The Undertaker, who was in attendance, on his way to the back.

That staring contest fueled speculation that Lesnar could be on his way back to WWE for a match with The Dead Man at WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 27 in April.

Nothing ever came of that because Lesnar is under an exclusive contract with UFC, and there is no way Dana White was going to let his most profitable asset compete in a worked sport and sully the name of mixed martial arts in the process.

But earlier this week it was announced that Lesnar had agreed to a contract with WWE that would allow his likeness to be used in the upcoming WWE ’12 video game.

This has led to some speculation that something bigger might be brewing between Lesnar and WWE in the very near future.

As great as it would be to have Lesnar work a match in WWE again, and in particular work a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania, there is virtually no chance of this happening.

The only way it would happen is if WWE gave Lesnar and UFC a significant portion of the profits from the event, which is highly unlikely, and Lesnar would have to go over strong in any match that he works.

There is no way that Undertaker is losing a match at WrestleMania, especially to someone only doing a one-off appearance.

The timing does not fit for Lesnar to work in WWE right now. But it is clear that cooler heads have prevailed after the former WWE champion walked out of the company in 2004.

At that time, WWE did everything in its power to prevent him from working anywhere for the duration of his contract. The company tried to enforce a six-year, non-compete clause, but they were rebuffed by an arbitrator.

The fact that the two sides have buried the hatchet and are willing to work together, even if it is just for a likeness rights deal, is a positive sign.

I would be shocked if Lesnar does not work a match again in WWE after his MMA career is over. But it is not going to happen at WrestleMania 28, and he certainly won’t wrestle The Undertaker if/when he does return.
