Week 5 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Buccaneers Teammates Will Boom and Bust

Ryan RudnanskyOct 9, 2011

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have followed up a breakthrough campaign with a solid start this season, going 3-1 and proving to be a challenge once against for the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.

Running back LeGarrette Blount had his best game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, and receiver Mike Williams had his largest yardage output.

But both will produce opposite results for fantasy owners in Week 5.

Here's your Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Week 5.

Start 'Em: Mike Williams, WR, Buccaneers

Williams hasn't exactly been what fantasy owners have expected this season. After racking up 964 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, he's been pretty quiet this season, with 15 catches for 155 yards and a touchdown through four weeks.

But he was targeted a team-high eight times against the Colts, catching five passes for 66 yards, and he goes up against a San Francisco 49ers secondary that is giving up 284 passing yards per game, near the bottom of the league.

Plus, the 49ers' rush defense has forced teams to throw the ball 39.5 times on average, while largely ignoring their run games...

Sit 'Em: LeGarrette Blount, RB, Buccaneers

That last sentence should have been a hint to you all.

The 49ers rush defense is no joke this season, allowing just 3.5 yards per carry behind an improved defensive line and linebacking corps (and middle linebacker Patrick Willis is always prowling).

There's a reason teams are averaging 21 rushes per game against the 49ers and passing the ball 39.5 times per game, and it's not just because the 49ers' secondary is mediocre.

I advised you all to start Blount against the Colts in Week 4, and now I'm telling you to sit him.

Hey, when have I ever steered you wrong?
