College Football: National Signing Day
The highly anticipated National Signing Day is here, and some of the top high school prospects have selected the college they wish to attend.
Here are some of the most significant signings...
Julio Jones, No. 1 WR, Alabama
Jones is ranked as the number one wide receiver in all the country. He selected Alabama as his collegiate home because he "feels more comfortable" in his home state. He made the announcement on Wednesday, on live TV. He was part of ESPNU's Insider Recruiting Special. Jones was also considering Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, and Texas Tech.
Darrell Scott, No. 2 RB, Colorado
Scott, ranked number nine on ESPN's 150, selected Colorado live on ESPNU's Insider Recruiting Special this Wednesday. Scott's uncle, Josh Smith, played wide receiver at Colorado. Scott was also considering Texas, Florida, UCLA, and USC.
Jamie Harper, No. 3 RB, Clemson
Clemson upgrades it's very good recruiting class with the recent signing of Harper. Harper is ranked twelfth overall on the ESPN 150. Harper had also considered Miami-FL, Florida State, and Illinois. He also made his selection live on ESPNU's Insider Recruiting Special.
Brandon Harris, No. 3 CB, Miami (FL)
Under Armour All-American Harris selected to stay near his hometown and selected Miami (FL) live on ESPNU's Insider Recruiting Special this Wednesday.
Jerrell Harris, No. 8 OLB, Alabama
Harris, No. 99 overall on ESPN's 150 list, opted to remain in-state as he selected Alabama this Wednesday. He is also given a grade of 81 by ESPNU. Harris had a wide range of scholarships, but had his list narrowed down to five on Wednesday; Alabama, USC, Auburn, Clemson, and Tennessee.
T.J. Lawrence, No. 10 WR, Florida
Lawrence is the 49th overall player on ESPN's 150 list. He is given an 82 grade, and is one of the strong points of Florida's 2008 recruiting class. Lawrence is an Under Armour All-American, and one of eleven recruits that are on ESPN's 150 list.
Kendall Wright, No. 12 ATH, Baylor
Number 115 on the ESPN 150 list, athlete Wright selected to stick with Baylor on Wednesday. Previous to Wright's selection, many Baylor-committed players dropped their commitments and opted for another school.
Of course, the No. 1 ranked quarterback Terrell Pryor has yet to sign with anybody. His decision is being waited for with great interest from thousands of people across the country.
As of now, Pryor is considering Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, and LSU. He says that he hasn't had the time to clearly think through his decision thanks to a high school football championship and a busy high school basketball schedule.
