Fantasy Football Week 4: Tony Romo and 5 QBs Sure to Cost You a Win

T.J. McaloonJun 7, 2018

Are you stuck with your lineup? Are you not sure who you should start and sit? Are you worried that benching Matthew Stafford for Cam Newton is going to come back to haunt you, thus keeping you from a much needed Week 4 win?

Well, you are in luck today as we have taken time to break down five quarterbacks that you should stay away from starting this week.

Now if you happen to have two of these five quarterbacks on your roster; well, sorry about your luck. It’s not our fault that you went running back, wide receiver heavy in the first four rounds.

If that is the case and you just so happened to have two to three of these players on your roster, then make a trip to the waiver wire and pick up Mark Sanchez or Matt Hasselbeck.

Okay enough with the waiver wire advice let’s get into the people you should avoid.

Tony Romo—Dallas Cowboys

Coming into this game, Romo has been under-performing as a fantasy quarterback. He had one great game against the San Francisco 49ers, one horrendous game last week against the Washington Redskins, and one okay game against the New York Jets.

During the horrendous game came last week he was battling bad ribs, a punctured lung and a starting wide receiver named Kevin Olgetree.

This week it get’s no better versus a dominant defensive line in the Detroit Lions. Expect to see Ndamukong Suh to hit Romo a lot on Sunday afternoon. And his receivers are still a half effort Dez Bryant and Olgetree.

Joe FlaccoBaltimore Ravens

The Joe Flacco fantasy season has gone like the story Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. One week you get 300-plus yards and three touchdowns. The other week you get 197 yards and two interceptions.

So which Flacco shows up against Rex Ryan’s New York Jets defense? A defense that is allowing only 188 yards per game to passing offenses.

Matt SchaubHouston Texans

Matt Schaub has been a very reliable fantasy quarterback this season. He’s increased his touchdown numbers in every game this yearstarting at one in Week 1 and going to three last week.

But Schuab hasn’t played the number one pass defense in the NFL. Schaub gets a nice introduction to the Pittsburgh Steelers' multiple blitz and cover schemes.

Expect a garbage time touchdown from Schaub and maybe 200-250 yards with an interception or two.

Donavan McNabbMinnesota Vikings

Why is he on your team? If you have him either A) don’t play him, or B) drop him for Sanchez or Hasselbeck. But if you’re stuck with Donavan, like the Vikings, sit him this week due to the fact that Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson will probably carry the ball 35 times this week.

The Chiefs are horrible defending the run and the Vikings have given up three fourth quarter leads.

Josh FreemanTampa Bay Buccaneers

If you do own Freeman and have to start him because of an injury to Romo or Vick, then look elsewhere this week. The Colts are horrible on offense which will result with a Buccaneers lead and more touches for Bucs Running Back LeGarrett Blunt.

Blunt has seen his rushing attempts increase every week while Freeman has seen his passing attempts plateau at 30.

The Bucs should be up by 10 or more points in the fourth quarter resulting in a majority of running plays with the occasional pass.
