Arsene Wenger: How Many More Chances Will Arsenal Give Him?
Despite Arsenal's current league position, Arsene Wenger is still a world-class manager. But the evidence to state otherwise is piling up for the French manager.
No trophies since 2005's FA Cup win, selling star talisman Cesc Fabregas, and their current lowly league position suggest that the Wenger is struggling. Today's defeat to Premier League strugglers, Blackburn Rovers, is another nail in Wenger's Arsenal coffin.
Before today's game, the general consensus was that it was Blackburn manager Steve Kean who was the manager in the firing line, but today's result has given him some breathing space. It is now Wenger, whose league form so far this season looks like that of a man who is struggling to get to grips with the new league season.

A lucky win against league new boys Swansea, an opening day draw against Newcastle, and the defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United have taken their toll on their league position.
The heavy defeat at Old Trafford may still be giving the Arsenal players nightmares, but it is something they need to deal with and soon. I have no doubt that at the end of the season, Arsenal will be up the top end of the league table, but unless action is taken soon, it may be a case of act in haste, repent at leisure for the north London side.
Arsenal's transfer deadline day purchases of Mikel Arteta, Yossi Benayoun, Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, and Park Chu-Young, will help in the long run, but the new players will need time to gel with each other and the existing players. The summer departures of Fabregas and Samir Nasri may have unsettled the squad, but the longer running issue is that Wenger has kept faith in his young charges, which he feels are capable of replacing the world class generation of Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Robert Pires, and Dennis Bergkamp. But the opinion of many Gunners is that there is still work to be done, despite many of these players leaving many seasons ago.
Would getting rid of Wenger make things better? Well maybe in the short term, but don't forget it is Wenger who made the club what it is today. He has almost single-handedly revolutionized soccer players, introducing things like customised diets and new ideas in training which when they were introduced when he first took over, were seen as witchcraft, but now are standard practice in every single soccer club.
Would Arsenal have their continental flair without the introduction of the many European players that Wenger brought across the English Channel? No.
The Premier League has changed. It rewards the teams that spend more money on players rather than the the ones that are financial astute. Arsenal are proud in their ability to save money, but with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool spending a lot more money than Arsenal, the best they can aim for is 4th or 5th place in the League. Can they achieve this with Wenger? Yes.
