WWE Monday Night Raw Recap: 5 Best Moments from Last Night's Show
The WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow was in full effect last night, and Bleacher Report is here to break down the five best moments from the show.
Triple H announced that he'd be facing CM Punk at Night of Champions last week on Raw, and then signed the contract for the match the next night at the live Super SmackDown.
Kevin Nash took issue with the COO's decision, and then not only had problems with Punk, but his relationship with Triple H continued it's downward spiral as well.
This week, the mystery texter who told Nash to attack CM Punk at SummerSlam was revealed, and the answer was just as confusing as it was shocking.
Multiple stars from SmackDown were present on the show, and despite being stacked with big names from both brands, the midcarders and young talent were still out in force.
See who and what made the cut for our five best moments of the night in the following slides, and see if it stacks up to your top five!
Natalya Owns Kelly Kelly in the Announce Booth as Beth Phoenix Earns Title Shot
1 of 5The WWE Universe was treated to some interesting developments in regards to the WWE Divas division the past few days.
An article on WWE.com asked if "The Divas of Doom," Beth Phoenix and Natalya, would be the "saviors of the Divas division" and the Divas weren't pleased.
The Bella Twins were the most vocal on twitter, but the feuding manifested itself in the announce booth when Kelly Kelly and Natalya joined in on commentary during the No. 1 contender's match between Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.
As Beth went on to become the No. 1 contender, and earn her title shot against Kelly Kelly at Night of Champions, Natalya verbally danced circles around Kelly Kelly in the booth.
It wasn't so much what Natalya was saying, but more that Kelly Kelly just seemed lost. Natalya and Michael Cole carried the discussion, with Natalya explaining that her and Beth want to educate the WWE Universe, likening divas such as Kelly Kelly to candy, and "The Divas of Doom" to vegetables.
The combination of Beth winning, and Natalya running with her chance of being given a voice in the booth, put this moment over for me.
WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio Recruits a Heel Team to Take out John Cena
2 of 5So, I'm bending the rules, and taking an assortment of moments that were all tied together, and classifying it as one full moment. Deal with it.
Throughout the show, WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio approached heels backstage, using his silver tongue to convince them to attack John Cena. Del Rio playing the role of manipulator well, twisting the truth to convince Christian, Wade Barrett, and Dolph Ziggler that John Cena had wronged them.
Each conversation had something special about it.
Christian was on camera, and still relevant.
Wade Barrett was speaking to Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks (really) about something something "big."
Dolph Ziggler was urged to prove himself to Vickie Guerrero, and the Bella Twins took an interest in Del Rio.
Rather than simply having Del Rio go around and talk to individual superstars, WWE creative made the most of the time given to each segment, allowing other superstars to put in face time, and apparently, build angles other than just Del Rio/Cena.
With the Raw SuperShow bringing in stars from SmackDown, many were worried that the WWE would drop the ball, but tonight's outing has boosted faith in the WWE to pull it off.
Jerry "The King" Lawler Tags with Zack Ryder, Ryder Gets Superstar Treatment
3 of 5Unannounced going into tonight's show, Jerry "The King" Lawler had a tag team match against David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty.
Lawler has repeatedly bashed the former tag team champions for lacking charisma, and tonight, they looked to settle their differences in the ring.
Coming to the ring, Lawler announced that, unlike Otunga and McGillicutty, his partner was oozing charisma, and Zack Ryder's music hit.
That wasn't what really sold me though. After being announced, Ryder got a solid chunk of air time for his own promo, where they showed clips from his YouTube show, along with his Internet championship, and some WWE clips as well.
Not bad, broski, not bad at all.
The former tag team champions lost to the team of King and Ryder handily, which I'm not too high on because they were JUST tag team champions, and that keeps this moment from being higher on the list.
The Miz and R-Truth Cut Another Great Promo, CM Punk Beats R-Truth
4 of 5"R-Truth, I had an epiphany."
"Oh, I had one of those when I was a kid."
That was one of many hilarious exchanges that took place between R-Truth and The Miz prior to R-Truth's match against CM Punk.
These two have chemistry, and are doing a great job of being comedic heels. If I had to honestly choose one thing about the WWE that really "working" right now, it's this pair.
During the match, The Miz played the role of manager well, but it couldn't keep Punk from getting a victory.
After The Miz was ejected from ringside by the referee, Punk hit Truth with the Go To Sleep, and it was all over.
Top that off with Triple H coming out to announce that his match at Night of Champions with CM Punk would be No DQ, and that if Triple H lost, he'd resign from his position of COO, and this moment was one to remember.
Triple H Fires Kevin Nash for Fabricating the Text Message Story
5 of 5To kick off Raw, CM Punk and Kevin Nash once again began to duel on the microphone.
As Punk explained that the last time Nash was relevant was the year Justin Bieber was born, Triple H made an entrance, and quickly brought the sparring match to a halt.
Triple H claimed that he had received security tapes from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and saw someone going into his office where his cell phone was just prior to the message being sent.
The culprit? None other than Kevin Nash himself.
The COO was on the verge of firing Nash, who began to push Triple H, asking if this was about him pushing him down on SmackDown last week. After taunting Triple H, Triple H punched him in the chest, dropping him.
The former friends stared at one another, and Triple H fired him. What did Punk do?
Point, and laugh.
Afterwards, Kevin Nash was seen leaving with John Laurinaitis.
As for the decision to have Nash be the one who sent the text, I believe they ended the debate to move on with the storylines. They're looking to milk this over multiple PPV's, but can't keep dedicating five minutes of air time to Punk only to have him rant about a text message that has become irrelevant to his match with Triple H.
What do you think of these top five moments? Did the eight-man tag team main event between the faces and heels make the cut on your list, and if so, why? Sound off in the comment section!
