Andy Santerre Has New Young Driver To Mentor In Camping World East Series
Andy Santerre, owner of Andy Santerre Motorsports and past champion of the Camping World East series, has found a new talent to mentor for his team. Santerre just announced that Brett Moffitt, a 16 year old phenom from Grimes, Iowa is set to drive for his team.
Although not yet old enough to vote, young Moffitt has an impressive racing resume. His racing experience includes the ASA Late Model North Series, the ASA Challenge Series, IMCA Sport Modifieds and the WKA.
Young Moffitt knows that he has found a great mentor in Santerre, who as a driver has won the championship four times in the Camping World East series. As a team owner, Santerre has furthered the careers of many young drivers, including Sean Caisse, Austin Dillon, Jeffrey Earnhardt, and most recently Peyton Sellers.
Moffitt plans to make his first appearance with the team at the Camping World West series opener at Phoenix International Raceway. He will then run six races in the Camping World East series under the watchful eye of Santerre.
Young Moffitt has sponsorship for the first part of the East series, but the team is seeking sponsorship for the remainder of the races. He also hopes to continue his contract for all of the ASM races on the schedule.
Brett's claim to fame is his win as the youngest person in the feature event of the Harris Clash at the Knoxville, IA Raceway. He had five wins in 2008 on asphalt and earned the Rookie of the year honors in the ASA Late Model North series, finishing second in points.
Moffitt is a typical teenager, loving pizza, hanging out with his friends, and following his favorite NASCAR Cup driver Jimmie Johnson. His favorite movie is Talladega Nights.
Brett is most fortunate to be able to study at the knee of one of NASCAR's greatest teachers in Andy Santerre. While the team continues to seek sponsorship for the remainder of the East races, it will be interesting to see what Santerre will be able to accomplish with his newest, and one of his youngest, up and coming drivers.
