Miami Hurricanes Football 2011:The Best 7 Victories of the Last 7 Years
The Miami Hurricanes haven't won a bowl game since 2006 when they beat Nevada in the MPC Computers Bowl.
In reality that is the last time the Hurricanes won a meaningful game, which is pretty sad considering the amount of talent they produce every year.
Either way, this is list of the best seven victories the Hurricanes had in the last seven years.
1/1/2004: Florida State Seminoles (Orange Bowl)
1 of 7When the Seminoles and the Hurricanes get together, it is almost for certain that it will end up being a nailbiter and this game was no exception.
Florida State came into the game ranked number nine in the AP poll, while the Hurricanes were one below them at number 10.
Wouldn't you know it, Seminoles kicker, Xavier Beitia, had a chance to put FSU ahead 17-16 with just over five minutes to play but the kick went wide right, again.
This marked the fifth straight victory for the Hurricanes over the Seminoles, the longest streak since 1957.
9/10/2004: Florida State Seminoles
2 of 7Although every game against the Seminoles seems to be important, this one was very different because for the first time ever, they were playing an in conference game against each other.
FSU just happened to be the first game Miami played as an ACC team, moving from the Big East Conference.
The game itself was won my the Hurricanes defense as Miami held FSU to 165 total yards, while racking up 364 total yards.
The game went into overtime as Miami caused a turnover, then Frank Gore ran it in 18 yards to win the game, 16-10.
It was the third game against the Seminoles in just under 11 months, Miami winning each one of them.
12/31/2004: Florida Gators (Peach Bowl)
3 of 7The 14th ranked Hurricanes and the 20th ranked Gators met in the 2004 Peach Bowl with identical records of 7-3.
The Hurricanes came into the game after its first full season in their new conference, the ACC. They started off the season great, but dropped their last three games against conference opponents.
The Hurricanes got 14 points off the special teams as Devin Hester returned a blocked punt 78 yards for a touchdown and Roscoe Parrish returned a punt 72 yards to the house late in the second quarter.
Florida had an edge on total yards, 408 to 280, but could not overcome the Hurricanes special teams as Miami won, 27-10.
It marked the sixth straight time that Miami has beaten Florida.
The Gators revenged their loss by beating Miami in 2008 marking the first time Florida has beaten Miami in 23 years.
11/5/2005- Virginia Tech Hokies
4 of 7It was the game of the week on as number five Miami went into Blacksburg to face the number three Virginia Tech Hokies.
Both defenses played very well as Miami only gave up 167 total yards to the Hokies, while Virginia Tech only allowed 304.
Charlie Jones was the star for Miami rushing for 97 yards and scored a touchdown.
Miami beat Virginia Tech, 27-7.
The Hurricanes were 6-1 going into the game while the Hokies were 7-0 and one of just five teams in the country that were undefeated.
12/31/2006- Nevada Wolf Pack (MPC Computers Bowl)
5 of 7The Miami Hurricanes hadn't had a losing season since 1997 (only two since 1979), but going into the MPC Computers Bowl, Miami was just 6-6 and on the verge of breaking that streak.
Miami went into the bowl game knowing this would be head coach, Larry Coker, last game as he was let go right after their 17-14 victory over Boston College to make them bowl eligible.
Miami won the game 21-20, marking the first time since 1995 that Nevada lost a bowl game.
Coker ended his career that day, 4-2 in bowl games including a national championship in 2001.
This game is only listed as one of the best in the last seven years because it is the last bowl game Miami has won.
9/7/2009- Florida State Seminoles
6 of 7After two straight horrible seasons, Miami came into the 2009 season unranked for the third straight consecutive year.
The Hurricanes turned to sophomore quarterback Jacory Harris, as Robert Marve transferred during the offseason.
Miami's first opponent of the 2009 season were the19th ranked Seminoles.
In what was thought to be a route by the Seminoles actually turned into one of the best games between the two clubs as Miami won 38-34 in Tallahassee.
The lead changed seven times and with five seconds remaining Seminole quarterback Christian Ponders pass fell incomplete in the Miami end zone giving the Hurricanes the victory.
Miami ended up with 476 total yards, while Harris made a name for himself with 386 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
This marked the first of four straight ranked opponents Miami would face in the upcoming weeks.
10/3/2009: Oklahoma Sooners
7 of 7The Hurricanes 2009 season started pretty solid as Miami's record coming into the game against Oklahoma was 2-1.
Although that may sound like it wasn't a great record keep in mind that they just played three straight ranked conference teams to start the season, two of them on the road.
The last of four ranked teams came against number eight Oklahoma, who beat Miami in 2007 on national television, 51-13.
Miami, ranked 17th, started the game down 10-0, thanks to two Jacory Harris interceptions.
The best thing about Harris in his sophomore season was he never got rattled and came back to throw a touchdown just before halftime to cut the lead to three.
After halftime it was more of the same as Harris threw two more touchdowns to give Miami a 21-10 lead.
Oklahoma did come back to score 10 unanswered points, but Miami's defense held the Sooners for the rest of the game.
Miami won, 21-20, getting revenge for it's blow out loss to Oklahoma just a couple years ago.
In reality though, this was the last big game the Hurricanes have won since.
