WWE Hall of Fame: 10 Current Wrestlers Who Will Rank with the All-Time Greats

Daniel MasseyJun 24, 2011

Hello folks and welcome to another slideshow!

The WWE Hall of Fame is one thing that every superstar strives to be in. It is the place to be remembered, to be associated with the best in the business.

I am going to take a look at which current superstars are most likely to join such all-time greats such as Shawn Michaels and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in the prestigious Hall of Fame.

I have given an explanation to each of my following predictions and I hope you take the time to read the reasons why I picked each superstar.

So, once again, sit back, relax and enjoy the read!

Honourable Mentions

1 of 12

I thought I’d mention these superstars as they are obvious choices, they are on the roster, but they do not wrestle a full time schedule. Despite this, I think you will agree they will all make it to the Hall of Fame one day and join the greats, like Sunny.

Goldust

Some may disagree with this choice but I believe Goldust’s character is one that will live in infamy within the WWE Universe. Some may not even know who he is if you only just started watching WWE programming, but his whole gimmick is brilliant, and he is a long-standing member of the WWE.

One of my favourite superstars, Goldust must be Hall of Fame bound. He has wrestled in the main event before though he has spent most of his career as a mid-carder.

He is excellent on the microphone and can make people care about what he is saying, a trait that is all too rare among today’s regular stars.

I already think he is a legend in his own right and believe he deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.

The Undertaker

The Phenom, The Deadman, The Reaper of Wayward Souls—call him what you will but the Undertaker is probably the most iconic wrestler who isn’t yet in the WWE Hall of Fame.

He pulls a ridiculously good match out of nowhere at every WrestleMania. He is so consistent in his work and it makes him a joy to watch.

One of the only supernatural stars left in the WWE at the moment, The Undertaker can still pull off his gimmick despite being out of his comfort years.

His Championship reigns speak for themselves and he has also won the Royal Rumble.

He is already considered a legend and it would only be right to place him in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Triple H

Taking more of a backstage role in the company, Triple H is good back up for when too many superstars are injured etc. Triple H has had an unprecedented amount of Championship reigns and that alone should secure him a place.

But his legacy is almost unrivalled. They call him the King of King’s for a reason. He is a master of his craft, and a real ring general. He knows how to work a crowd and be successful.

I never like Triple H as a character until recently, and I went back and watched his famous matches—I now have a real appreciation for how he made me feel as a kid growing up—I hated his character but it was the ability to evoke that emotion that made him so good at what he does.

If Triple H doesn’t make the Hall of Fame then I can’t see any of the following superstars standing a chance.

Alex Riley

2 of 12

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that something special is going to happen with this kid.

His recent feud with Miz has been one of the most electrifying feuds I have seen in a long time.

Seeing him take control over his former mentor was just brilliant and he has shown he can perform well in the ring. I predict he will become a world champion later in his career and then last for a long time before being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

In a company that does not really rely on gimmicks as much anymore, I believe we will see an influx of Superstars who have wrestled as themselves being inducted. Although I am aware that Alex Riley isn’t his real name.

This is an extremely risky prediction on my part, but I believe it can happen. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Christian

3 of 12

Christian has just become a main event star and I predict he will stay there for a long time.

Even if he only made his debut a couple of years ago I would be saying the same thing.

What makes his induction into the Hall of Fame a dead certainty, is the legacy he left behind during the Attitude Era. Christian, along with Edge, competed in the most innovative tag team matches of their time, and paved the way for other superstars to try more daring things.

The TLC matches are infamous within the wrestling world and I’ll never forget the first one I saw at Summerslam 2000. It is etched in my mind.

He is a multiple time WWE Tag Team Champion and even if his main event push doesn’t continue, he is definitely going into the Hall of Fame.

Sheamus

4 of 12

Sheamus has already been a two time WWE Champion since his arrival in WWE a few short years ago.

This accomplishment came off the back of a brilliant push the Celtic Warrior received when he joined the company.

Barring an unfortunate long streak after winning King of the Ring, Sheamus has been an unstoppable force and has become one of my favourite superstars today.

I think he is definitely bound for the Hall of Fame and given his current hunt for the World Heavyweight Championship, I see him being at the top for a long time to come.

Who knows, he may become Superman III.

The Big Show

5 of 12

There is no denying that Big Show’s 12 years with the company have been eventful.

The Big Show is the perfect guy for the business—he can compete in matches with smaller guys who act like the underdog, bigger guys who test their strength against him and Big Show always comes out looking good no matter what.

Let’s forget Knucklehead for a moment—Big Show has been WWE Champion twice in his long career which is a pretty good feat in itself.

He has the ability to play both heel and face roles and he can look extremely vicious in the ring.

His character allows me to suspend my disbelief and I’m always in awe at the seemingly unlimited power the Big Show has.

He is definitely bound for the Hall of Fame but how soon I don’t know—some say he may retire in the near future.

CM Punk

6 of 12

We are all saddened by the news that Punk may be leaving the WWE soon.

He is one of the most gifted athletes in the WWE at the moment and his skills with the microphone are way above average.

CM Punk will deserve a place in the Hall of Fame in my opinion because of his contribution to WWE programming.

He is a three-time World Heavyweight Champion and seems to be able to work any story the WWE give him, no matter how ridiculous or stupid it may be—he has even managed to make a good go of his Nexus storyline even though it seemed destined to fail.

Punk is Hall of Fame bound and even if he leaves WWE next month, he will return to finish off the legacy he is leaving behind, I am quite sure of that.

Rey Mysterio

7 of 12

The Mexican sensation Rey Mysterio has done more in the WWE than anybody ever thought he would.

Being a two-time World Heavyweight Champion as a cruiserweight is an excellent achievement.

He is an extremely good fan favourite and I’m going to make a guess that his merchandise sales are close to John Cena’s.

I don’t think I’ve seen a WWE broadcast without seeing a Mysterio mask.

Although I don’t like him at all as a character, if he doesn’t get into the WWE Hall of Fame then something is not right.

He works hard to please his fans and is one of the main attractions in the WWE.

The Miz

8 of 12

The Miz. The most must-see WWE Champion in WWE history. I know it’s annoying when people compare superstars of today to those of the past, but I can’t help seeing The Miz as the new Rock.

Now before you blast me for making such an outrageous claim, let me explain why I believe this is the case. The Miz has exceptional microphone skills, especially compared to the other stars of today.

He is one of the reasons I enjoy watching WWE Raw so much—his charisma commands that we listen to him (remind you of anyone?) and I get excited when I hear his music play, especially if he is interrupting someone.

The Miz was WWE Champion for quite a long time, and won at the main event of WrestleMania, albeit with some help from The Rock and I still think he is in the early stages of his career.

Granted, he is not in the title picture at the moment, but then, The Rock wasn’t always there either.

The Miz will definitely be considered for the Hall of Fame in the future, I guarantee it.

Also, for one last comparison, The Miz’s music begins with his catchphrase, as does The Rock’s.

Kane

9 of 12

Kane has had a long career in the WWE as the Big Red Machine.

He spent nearly six years confined in a mask before revealing his face and has been dominant even with the destruction of his gimmick.

His feuds with the Undertaker will go down in history as some of the best ever, as will the times when he tagged with him.

Though Kane is renowned for having the worst feud award presented to him nearly every year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this should not stop his induction by any means.

In his first six years with the company, he was one of the most entertaining Superstars in my opinion and made 1998 one of the best years in wrestling history.

A bold claim to make, but he was part of a huge storyline that introduced the Inferno match and he represented a man who would actually be a viable threat to the Undertaker.

He was World Champion for much of 2010, showing he can still main event, even towards the end of his career.

Randy Orton

10 of 12

Superman II will undoubtedly find a home in the Hall of Fame one day.

Already a six-time WWE champion, Orton has had a memorable career. He began in the stable Evolution, went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship at the tender age of 24 and formed a legendary tag-team with Edge, RatedRKO.

He then sided with Legacy and has worked his way up to the top of the pile—well almost. Only one man stands in his way as far as being the top guy in the company goes.

He is now the World Heavyweight Champion and is the face of SmackDown and the upcoming video game WWE ’12.

The Legend Killer will one day join the legends.

John Cena

11 of 12

John Cena, love him or hate him, has been the top guy in the company for a long time.

If he doesn’t get into the Hall of Fame then there is something wrong.

From his debut against Kurt Angle, to his “thuganomics” gimmick and becoming the top guy in the company, John Cena is the total package.

Kids love him and he instills a sense of pride and puts across an extremely good message; “Never Give Up.”

He is an eight time WWE Champion and although some argue that he is not that accomplished in the ring, his mic skills and overall charisma make up for that.

John Cena is not going anywhere for a long time but I’ll tell you where he’s going when his career is over—into the WWE Hall of Fame with Drew Carey.
