UFC Fighters and the Super Hero Movie Roles They Could Play

Andrew BarrJun 22, 2011

Mixed martial artists are probably the closest thing we have to superheroes in our world, in terms of their combat abilities.

One thing is for sure: If aliens invaded earth and the fate of our planet had to be decided in hand to hand combat, MMA fighters are the ones we would send.

Let's take a look at some UFC fighters and the superhero movie roles they could play.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as Hancock

1 of 15

Quinton Jackson has legitimate acting experience, so that helps him right off the bat.

Hancock isn't a conventional superhero. He does save people, but he is also selfish much of the time. Hancock is brash and doesn't take crap from villains or innocent civilians.

Frankly, Hancock's personality matches up almost perfectly with Rampage.

Jackson will need some more acting lessons if he ever wants this role, though. Will Smith has some big shoes to fill.

Dan Severn as the Comedian

2 of 15

These two are just straight up similar looking, and that's mostly what this decision is based on.

The two are not incomparable, however.

The Comedian spanned multiple generations of superheroes (vigilantes, technically, but let's not go there), and Dan Severn has spanned multiple generations of mixed martial artists.

*I know Severn isn't in the UFC anymore, but the resemblance was just so uncanny I couldn't help but put him on the list.

Anthony Pettis as Spiderman

3 of 15

This one is pretty simple.

Anthony Pettis is still a very young man, so he is the appropriate age for the role.

Spiderman is very acrobatic and, it turns out, so is Pettis.

We've always known Spiderman can climb walls, but when Anthony fought Ben Henderson he showed us that he can too.

Frank Mir as Ironman

4 of 15

Frank Mir might seem an odd choice to play Ironman, but it does make sense on some levels.

The character behind the mask of Ironman is Tony Stark. Stark is a remarkably well spoken man and also a genius when it comes to technological advances.

Anyone who has seen interviews with Mir knows that he is also a well spoken individual and Mir's intricate knowledge of the sport is comparable to Stark's intricate knowledge of sciences.

Roy Nelson as the Blob

5 of 15

The Blob is... fat.

Roy Nelson is...

You guys get the idea.

Dan Henderson as Captain Falcon

6 of 15

I'm not entirely sure if Captain Falcon qualifies as a superhero/vigilante. I believe he was first featured as a bounty hunter in a video game. He certainly looks like a superhero, that's for sure.

This decision was actually made mathematically. Please refer to the following equation:

Falcon Punch =/= Hendo Bomb.

Georges St-Pierre as Batman

7 of 15

These two have a lot more in common than their love of suits.

Batman follows a personal code of conduct, that code basically stating that he will try to have his enemies incarcerated, rather than killing them.

This is comparable to GSP's tendency to fight safe and not finish his opponents.

Both are also very classy.

Jim Miller as Wolverine

8 of 15

Jim Miller is often referred to as an animal when he fights and Wolverine is one of the most animalistic superheroes of all time.

Miller is only 5'9", which works out perfectly. As fans of the comic books will know, Wolverine is actually quite short.

Chuck Liddell as Iceman

9 of 15

Chuck "The Ice Man" Liddell earned his monicker due to his icy cool demeanor in the Octagon.

Liddell never looked anything but calm going into his fights, even when he was fighting for in championship fights against elite opponents.

Iceman can literally turn himself into ice.

Brock Lesnar as the Incredible Hulk

10 of 15

Do I even need to say anything?

They're both giant angry men.

Brian Stann as the Punisher

11 of 15

The Punisher has no interest in putting criminals behind bars; when he goes after someone he goes for the kill.

This is similar to Brian Stann's tendency to finish fights. He has eleven victories in his MMA career and only two of them have come by decision.

Both men also have a background with the military.

BJ Penn as Mr. Fantastic

12 of 15

He doesn't exactly have the look, but I think BJ Penn would make a good Mr. Fantastic.

Penn can't exactly stretch his limbs, but he is probably the most flexible fighter in MMA history.

He is particularly famous for the flexibility and dexterity of his legs. BJ can actually pick up a cue tip and clean his ears using his legs.

Jon Jones as Superman

13 of 15

Superman might be the most powerful, unstoppable superhero ever (save for Dr. Manhattan).

Jon Jones has looked completely unstoppable since entering the UFC.

Jones also has a knack for heroics. Before his title fighter with Mauricio Rua at UFC 128, Jones saw someone get mugged while he was meditating in the park.

He chased after the criminal and subdued him until police arrived.

Randy Couture as Captain America

14 of 15

Not only is Captain America one of the most powerful superheroes ever, he is also a very commercial superhero and serves as a good role model for the general public.

Randy Couture has always been known as a classy competitor and has been a role model to MMA fans everywhere.

Plus, people do refer to Couture as Captain America sometimes, so that works out nicely.

Frankie Edgar as the Flash

15 of 15

The Flash's super power is his super speed.

Frankie Edgar might not have the stature of your average superhero, but he does have probably the quickest footwork in the UFC.

Sometimes when I'm watching Frankie Edgar fight I actually get distracted by how quickly he moves; it's entertaining just to watch this guy bounce around.

Edgar has faced some of the best fighters in the world and made them look slow.
