WWE Capitol Punishment 2011: Why Randy Orton Will Beat Christian
Christian is going to have to keep trying, because there is no way he is getting "his" World Heavyweight Championship back from Randy Orton this weekend. All that carping and moaning about his "five-day title reign" (which was actually less than two days taking into account SmackDown recording, but who's counting? Oh yes, that's right, Christian is).
Let's look at the facts, shall we?
Randy Orton: The John Cena of SmackDown
1 of 4
Randy Orton is basically the John Cena of SmackDown now, isn't he? He's all-powerful (even if he can't always get his microphone to work), he's unbreakable and he has his unbeatable finishing move. All hail SuperOrton.
Christian's Heel Turn Incomplete
2 of 4
Christian's heel turn is still in progress. He needs more ammunition to nurture that grievance against the world, and he needs more space to try to convince the crowd to boo him (note to SmackDown producers: we know when you're using recorded boos; we can see when people are cheering, even if you overdub it).
Failing to seize that title back will go some way to doing that.
Positioning
3 of 4
Randy Orton spoke the truth last Friday. Christian won his first individual major title after 17 years in the business. He's not a top-of-the-roster guy—and WWE doesn't want to position him as such. If they did, they wouldn't have pulled that awful, disrespectful five-day (two-day) rib.
Is it because he used to be in TNA? Who knows.
Prediction
4 of 4
So on Sunday, here's what'll happen: Edge will not make a guest appearance. Randy Orton will hit Christian with an RKO. Orton will retain his championship, possibly for most of the next five years, a la Cena. Christian will turn heel good and proper. And if last week was anything to go by, he'll be feuding with a face-turned Sheamus up to SummerSlam.
Those are my predictions, what do you think?
