WWE: Turning 'Silent Rage' Andy Leavine Into a Superstar

Robert AitkenJun 12, 2011

Six days have now passed since Andy Leavine was announced as the winner of Tough Enough. While I thought that Luke Robinson would have won because of his charisma and his ability to be more ready at this moment, I was happy to see Leavine get his due.

Leavine is 6'5" and 270 pounds of potential. His mic skills aren't fantastic, but it is rare for a big man like Leavine to have that charisma. Leavine, at this point in time, is already good enough for an enforcer position, which we have seen Ezekiel Jackson and Batista, among others, use to get their feet in the door.

At just 23 years of age, the sky is the limit for Leavine. Many have wondered what they will do with Leavine to begin his career in WWE, especially after being slapped by Vince McMahon and stunned by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin just minutes after winning the title. However, Tough Enough did not mark the beginning for Leavine.

Leavine signed with WWE last summer with a developmental deal. Leavine worked for a few months in FCW under the name of Kevin Hackman. Because of his selection for Tough Enough in March, Leavine was released from his contract to make him eligible for the competition.

Now that Leavine has won Tough Enough, many can see him going back to Florida Championship Wrestling to develop a little more.

However, Leavine tweeted on Sunday, "On my way to NY for Monday Night RAW!" meaning that he will be a part of tomorrow night's All-Star night on RAW. Perhaps it will be to respond to the slap or Stone Cole Stunner, but it may also mean that Leavine will stay up on the main roster.

This is similar to what we saw from Maven, the original Tough Enough champion. Maven stayed up on the roster from the beginning, leading to a few years of mediocrity. It has led to WWE being afraid to throw their Tough Enough prospects up to the big leagues, but that may end with Leavine.

Even if Leavine is appearing on RAW tomorrow night, it would likely be better for him to become a Smackdown superstar. He can have matches with talent closer to his level and not get swept up in the entertainment circus on Monday nights.

It also pairs Leavine with Booker T, one of his Tough Enough trainers. It gives Booker an inside track on talking about Leavine on-screen, which will help Booker's skills at commentary. It also helps Leavine, who can use Booker when it will be hard for him with the large promotion and a newborn child at home.

As far as a gimmick for "Silent Rage," there is one person that I think about when I see Leavine: Kevin Nash. Nash may have six inches and some pounds on Leavine, but Nash would be the perfect person for Leavine to mirror.

I have also heard links to Edge, who Leavine could win a look-alike contest for, but Nash is more suited for Leavine's style. Nash has recently joined WWE's Creative team and could easily step in front of the camera again, especially if he is in line for a Hall of Fame bid this year, to mentor the young man.

All that we know about Big Andy right now is that he can do a mean big boot. Does that remind you of anyone? Give Leavine a Jacknife Powerbomb to perform on someone, and you will clearly be able to see the future with Leavine.
