WWE: Can the Giant Stay Relevant in a World Without Other Giants?
Would anyone watch baseball every year if the Yankees were the only team who could win the World Series? Would football be interesting if there was only one winner every season? Could soccer be as popular all over the world if only one country played the sport?
The answer to all these questions is NO. The point I am getting at is how can WWE continue to stay relevant and reinvent themselves without any other competition?
TNA is nothing in terms of competition for WWE. Sure, they have some great talents and some well-liked legends roaming their ring, but their viewership is a fraction of that of the WWE. They only have one show every week and they barely ever tour outside of the Florida region.

All these factors lead to the conclusion that TNA is not any kind of threat to WWE.
ROH is a company that has been consistently gaining steam in the world of wrestling for about 10 years now. The smaller promotion has produced such talents as Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Tyler Black and AJ Styles, as well as featured some legends like Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio while they were between WCW and WWE.
ROH was recently purchased by Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which means they will now have television stations in 22 markets able to feature their talents.
ROH could potentially be the next player in the wrestling world, but for now their existence acts more as a training ground for future WWE stars rather than a place for stars to be featured.
Dragon Gate and New Japan Pro Wrestling are well known amongst wrestling fans worldwide, but their limited reach with television and their sporadic PPV events make it hard for fans to get involved.
So what will it take for WWE to be challenged again like they were in the days of the Monday Night Wars?
During the late 90's the feud between WCW and WWE reached an all-time high, and both companies were producing high-quality shows and having new superstars break into the mainstream.
During a time when it seemed like WWE was going to lose all of its top talent to the Turner-based promotion, Vince McMahon and company began to build new stars, some of whom would become the biggest stars in the world.
Guys like Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH and Kane were breakout stars of this period of time and have all gone on to find amazing success both in and out of the WWE ring.
Once Vince bought his competition and absorbed both ECW and WCW into his world, the WWE began to tread water. Once there was no one trying to knock you down, there was no reason to keep standing up.
What the world of wrestling needs now is someone with as much money as Vince McMahon to come along and build another promotion. With the right talent, money and creativity, another wrestling promotion could easily fill the void so many fans have felt for the last 10 years.
Someone with McMahon-level bank accounts, marketing experience and a passion for the sport, could potentially make a dent in WWE's business if they did enough to promote themselves.
I know that the chances of some billionaire randomly deciding to start a wrestling company are far-fetched, but if WWE does not get some competition, then eventually they will become a sideshow act which no one will care about.
I am saying this because I don't want that to happen. I want TNA to step up and take some of WWE's market share, I want ROH to build itself into a global giant.
And the reasons I want all this to happen are completely selfish of course. It's because I love wrestling and I want to see the leaders of the industry put forth more effort.
So in conclusion, what can really be accomplished in a single-dog fight?
