WWE: R-Truth and the 13 Most Hated Wrestling Personalities Going Right Now
It doesn't take a whole lot for a WWE superstar to be hated. WWE tries to force fans to like and not like certain superstars, but fans know better. Fans don't always hate heels and don't always favor the faces.
Sometimes the right amount of hustle and skill, as well as being good at what you are asked to do, will get you enough respect regardless of what you are.
R-Truth was hated by many wrestling fans during his days as a face. Fans could cite his odd moveset, annoying gimmick and terrible mic skills. When R-Truth turned heel recently, however, his moves changed, his gimmick was more interesting and his talking ability was better suited for him.
Now, R-Truth is still hated, but for different reasons entirely. Here is a list of the most hated wrestling personalities in WWE right now, whether the company wants us to hate them or not.
No. 13: Rey Mysterio
1 of 13
Of course Rey Mysterio is still a fan favorite, especially among the young children. However, a growing number of fans are getting sick of his Ultimate Underdog reputation.
How successful can someone be as an underdog before they stop being an underdog?
His moveset is becoming more stale as his injuries have piled up. Is the 619 really that innovative of a move anymore, especially when it is the only time anyone ever hangs on the middle rope in any match?
Mysterio also has an attitude backstage, which has led to him refusing to drop championships to younger superstars. It can only be believed that his high winning percentage in recent years has something to do with it too.
I couldn't find an updated televised win-loss record, but the most updated one I could find led up to the end of April. Mysterio has the best percentage of current wrestlers with a 14-4 record.
Here is the full list, which was posted on a forum for Rajah.
No. 12: Jinder Mahal
2 of 13
Jinder Mahal is an impressive superstar that has just started his WWE career. Now that Mahal has had his first match in WWE, the stock of Mahal will only rise.
It's hard to really hate a man that has only been around for a few weeks, but Mahal has one thing going for him as a heel: the language barrier.
His theme is not as recognizable for instant heat than the similar themes of The Great Khali's first theme of Muhammad Hassan's theme, but it may grow on the audience.
Mahal also has not spoken much English since debuting, speaking in a dialect that most people will boo strictly for it not being English.
A textbook way to get instant heat is to speak in another language, which American fans often associate with bad people. How naive we are...
No. 11: Sheamus
3 of 13
The Celtic Warrior has lost some steam from fans, especially as some have gained a lot of respect for the guy. Sheamus has put on some good matches and has gone through some ups and downs.
He is now back up and is one of the top heels on SmackDown. His accent will always get him some heat, but his ruthless manner in the ring does him wonder with gaining boos.
No. 10: The Bella Twins
4 of 13
Of course, these two are being packaged together in this list. It isn't like either of them really matter much without the other.
The Bellas have now been heel for a little while now and have garnered marginal heat. Their biggest amount of heat came from their comments toward Kharma after announcing she was pregnant.
There isn't much that the Divas division has going for itself, but this poor excuse for Lay-Cool is about as good as it gets.
No. 9: Hornswoggle
5 of 13
Hornswoggle has been a face for so long, but he has also been a superstar for so long. It is the latter that has a lot of people angry with him.
When you go down the list and look at the amount of talent released in order to keep him around, it is enough to make you angry.
His inclusion on NXT has all but ruined the show, if it wasn't ruined already. The sooner that Hornswoggle is removed from WWE, the better it will be for all.
The children will get over it...
No. 8: Michael Cole
6 of 13
The hatred that Michael Cole has right now is not as great as it used to be, but it is still there.
Cole is still about as hated as they come, but he has definitely dialed it down, making himself almost non-existent at times.
They will likely go toward an angle where Lawler keeps annoying Cole and becomes the bully in a reversal of roles in a way.
No. 7: Cody Rhodes
7 of 13
I wasn't sure if Cody Rhodes could out-do his gimmick as Dashing, but he did when he became bi-polar and wanted to hide his face.
It was an added touch to have his mask be see-through, which made him even more of a head case.
Rhodes has now had the victory at WrestleMania to back up the hype and interacts with the fans, making people put on paper bags over their faces.
It is a classic heel tool and it is really helping Rhodes in the long run, but only if he gets high-profile matches soon.
No. 6: Wade Barrett
8 of 13
Wade Barrett does not have as much heat on him as he has had in past months, but he still is a good heel, especially with the Intercontinental Championship.
After being given some sympathy with leaving Nexus, he gained his heel status right back by forming The Corre.
It only got better as Ezekiel Jackson was phased out and Barrett emerged as the leader of the supposed equals.
Another classic heel move is to have them as a champion and rarely lose via tapping out or being pinned.
Even when the title is not on the line, Barrett is often losing by having Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater interfering on his behalf.
No. 5: Alberto Del Rio
9 of 13
The Alberto Del Rio bandwagon is getting pretty full. The man won the Royal Rumble and is now barely in a storyline with Big Show.
People are wondering where Del Rio's title shot is and when he will become a champion in WWE, but it is only a matter of time.
His mic skills are top notch and Ricardo Rodriguez is a lightning rod for heat.
But you already knew that...
No. 4: R-Truth
10 of 13
How can you not absolute hate R-Truth now, especially when he is a heel now. He does such a great job. His promos are so unexpected and crazy that it is hard not to laugh at them.
The truth is that, while I can't see R-Truth being a champion or even a top heel on Raw, he is doing some of the best work of his career right now.
He won't beat John Cena for the title, but it sure is fun for him to be in this mood.
No. 3: Vickie Guerrero
11 of 13
The two most hated words on Monday nights are "Excuse Me." Once Vickie Guerrero says those, thousands of people begin to boo without taking breaths.
At one point, Vickie got booed so feverishly that she could barely get through a sentence.
I was not on board with keeping her around at first, but she really has grown on me. I almost have a problem viewing WWE without her.
No. 2: John Cena
12 of 13
Question: What is worse than John Cena to some people?
Answer: John Cena as WWE Champion.
Not only does Cena draw mixed emotions from crowds no matter where he goes, but Cena as a champion seems to kick it all up a few notches.
Cena constantly gets a rise out of anyone, be it a positive or negative one. No other in-ring competitor can get that emotion from anyone.
So, what does that make No. 1?...
No. 1: The Anonymous RAW General Manager
13 of 13
It must be a running joke for the Raw writing staff at this point. Will the identity ever be announced? Probably not.
I've given up all hope on it happening. It almost makes me want to not watch Raw anymore... almost.
