WWE News: No WWE Return in Brock Lesnar's Near Future

Gone Baby GoneMay 31, 2011

According to digitalspy.com, the former three time WWE champ Brock Lesnar is not a fan of the WWE's business model.

His focus was more based on health benefits, road scheduling, and overall treatment of wrestlers. Many former WWE employees have stated similar complaints. Let's face it, Kurt Angle built his TNA career on that mantra.

In an interview with PopEater.com the UFC star jokingly stated, "I guess I was a runaway slave."

He also made sure to note; "[Vince McMahon's] not forcing anybody to sign the contracts but I guess at the end of the day if you want to be a professional wrestler you gotta play by his rules. I was done playing the rules I guess … No, there's not a union there, there's really nothing in place to protect the wrestlers. Until the guys stand up for it, it's his company, it's his business and he can run it as he sees fit."

Lesnar was candid when asked about his former dependency on vicodin, to which he answered, "I acquired a number of different injuries, broken ribs and torn out knees and elbows, that suffered a lot of damage and so I was [one of the many wrestlers who used painkillers]. I was on the pain train just so I could tolerate the pain and go out and perform. I used vicodin and vodka."

He also said, "That was where I saw my life going, you look around the locker room and you see all these other performers that have been doing it for 20 years and I didn't want to be one of those guys … [I was taking] more than I should have been taking, that's for sure."

This article really gave an inside look at some of the goings on in the world of pro-wrestling. Luckily for Lesnar he realized the path he was heading down and opted to go another route. Fans may fault "The Next Big Thing" for ending his wrestling career early.

Clearly, he has more in the tank and could have sustained a longer career. However, he should be applauded for choosing life and realizing that there is another world outside of pro-wrestling.

Don't get me wrong, I realize not every wrestler is like Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair. Some know exactly when to hang it up .

Hopefully, more of the younger stars will learn from Lesnar and give the fans their all while they can. Yet be able to walk away (literally), when they know it's time.
