WWE: Sheamus and Ultimate Warrior, Who Will Have the Better Career?
There was a time nearly 20 years ago where fans didn't attend professional wrestling events for the intense action or the intriguing drama, only the excitement. This time has gone and past, where it was well known for a lengthy period of time as the WWF.
However, during this era, numerous stars were born in this growing industry, with fans of all ages forgetting the "scripted" portion of the shows. In a time where Hulkamania ran wild and Savage fever grew contagious, the ever-popular Ultimate Warrior was born.
His unique look and persona grew on people, becoming a culture icon in the world of wrestling that, along with Randy Savage, created the concept of charisma in wrestlers. Even his entrance music had those in attendance scrambling to their feet to witness the chaotic run-down of the Ultimate Warrior.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
During his tenure, he enjoyed three reigns as WWF Intercontinental Champion and WWF Heavyweight Champion respectively, feuding with the likes of Macho Man, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and even a young Undertaker. His biggest and most famous moment came at WrestleMania VI, defeating WWF Champion Hulk Hogan to win the prestigious title for the first and only time in his career.
Sadly, due to numerous fall-outs between Ultimate Warrior and WWE, they officially cut ties in 1996. Warrior would move on to WCW two years later for a brief and forgettable time, never to appear in another WWE ring again.
Even today, he has shortened his stage name to simply Warrior due to copyright claims by WWE. It has even been rumored that Warrior turned down an offer to be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame with the high tension between the two sides.
Fast forward a short two decades later, and you find yourself in the middle of a growing youth movement in the WWE locker room. Two summers ago, WWE introduced their newest acquisition to the roster, Sheamus.
Being compared to UFC fighter Brock Lesnar on a constant basis, Sheamus has been treated with much success since his arrival, although every chance he has been given has ended badly. Nonetheless, his quick rise to the top has proven him to be a force to be reckoned with.
How can these two compare, you might ask?
Both established stars have proven themselves to be the "Warriors" of their respective generations. Ultimate Warrior got the flow in the crowd pumping, while simultaneously creating the concept of pure domination at the peak of pro wrestling popularity, providing must-see and intriguing matches.
Sheamus, otherwise known as the Celtic Warrior, is one of the few threats left on the WWE roster and enjoying the mainstream as one of the few foreign born WWE Champions in recent years.
A difference that can be distinguished between the two is treatment from management.
Warrior was favored by Vince McMahon for a time, hence why he was brought back to the company on a number of occasions. Despite this, he was given minimal control over the booking of his character, prompting the anger with most of his storylines.
Sheamus, on the other hand, has been a favorite amongst management since his debut in June two years ago, having faith that he would become a top heel in the industry. The Celtic Warrior recently won contendership for the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown, showing that those backstage haven't given up on him entirely just yet.
As far as skills goes, they were both even for the most part. Sheamus has always been strong on the mic, where Warrior didn't really need promos to get the fans behind him. In the ring, Sheamus' matches have never won Match of the Year candidate, but strong showings each time.
Warrior provided highly intriguing matches with his charisma, but his same old move-set like many back in the day was predictable yet fans still never got tired of it.
Overall, I personally believe Ultimate Warrior will probably be remembered more for the things he accomplished in his brief run with the WWE rather than Sheamus, where he has failed to impress me on numerous occasions with the roller coaster booking of his character.
With the Celtic Warrior still wild and young, much can change by the time he retires. But I do believe his accomplishments and memorable moments will only be existent for only a short time after he leaves or retires, rather than the long-term electrifying moments Ultimate Warrior provided that will more than likely be remembered for years to come.
It is a shame Ultimate Warrior, also known by his real name James Hellwig, will probably never be on the same page with McMahon seeing it's been nearly 20 years since the incident occurred. I do hope he does not meet the same fate as fellow alumni Randy Savage, being inducted following his death.
Obviously, a dream match between the two is out of the question, but there is the opportunity to make it happen in the new WWE All-Stars video game release. No matter what Sheamus has or will accomplish, it is certain the Celtic Warrior can never recreate the magic Ultimate Warrior provided those many years ago.
