Ozzie Guillen and Baseball's 15 Best Twitter Accounts
Every sport has their own cast of characters.
Regardless of whether it's college or pro, and the big show is no exception.
Obviously, Chicago White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen is on the list, and rightfully so.
However, who else should you follow on twitter in the world of baseball?
Well, allowing this slide to be your guide should assist your curiosity.
Ozzie Guillen: Manager, Chicago White Sox
1 of 15
I'm guessing Ozzie is yelling at this umpire because that ump is not a follower of his twitter page.
Well, cheep up Ozzie, because you're the sole manager to make the list.
He's hilarious in interviews and when posting tweets.
Definitely one of the most entertaining people in the bigs, Ozzie Guillen also knows what it takes to win a championship.
Lest we forget, because his antics usually take precedence.
Brian Wilson: Closer, San Francisco Giants
2 of 15
How could there be an MLB twitter list that does NOT include Brian Wilson?
Don't be surprised if he decides to change his first name to "Brain" from Brian.
Why? Just because.
Which is very Brian Wilson, but then again what isn't?
Orlando Hudson: 2B, San Diego Padres
3 of 15
Orlando Hudson is a gracious host to his twitter page for the fans.
Very professional, and polite, he is arguably the perfect gentlemen.
He interacts a lot with the fans, and is also a correspondent for Jim Rome.
Hudson also acts as a good role model and influence for his followers, so if you want to communicate with a pro baseball player, he's waiting for your tweet!
David Price: SP, Tampa Bay Rays
4 of 15
He does of a lot of interaction with fans and teammates, and by the giant bubble in the profile pic, a picture says a thousand words right?
Also does a fair amount of retweeting, while even setting up xbox tournaments to compete in with fans.
That's definitely takes the cake on why he should be followed, but also talks that subtle trash to opposing players for the fun of it.
Chris Perez: Closer, Cleveland Indians
5 of 15
The fact that Chris Perez is rather sarcastic is the sole reason to follow his twitter page.
For most of us, sarcasm is the only language that exists (anyone who denies it is being sarcastic).
So, you combine that with a guy who also interacts a lot with fans, and doesn't shy away from a good piece of smack talk or two, and this is a win all the way.
Somewhere, Charlie Sheen is wearing his Rick Vaughn jersey and smiling.
Nick Swisher: RF, New York Yankees
6 of 15
Nick Swisher uses every thought to his advantage.
Every tweet is professional, well thought out and unique.
It also makes him one of the most influential in all of baseball.
Why?
Because he has over one million followers.
Nick "Swishness" Swisher (personal nickname because "swishness" came from NBA Jam) sends a positive message with each update.
Be sure to follow if you're interested, because he could be a zen-master if he wanted.
C.J. Wilson: SP, Texas Rangers
7 of 15
The picture says it all for me.
His left leg looks like its growing out of his head, while the right leg remaining stagnant is flamingo-esque.
Combine that with the red uniform and C.J. Wilson just became that much cooler.
That said, he gives a lot of food for thought from a mental perspective on twitter.
He's outgoing with fans and players alike, and isn't afraid to dive into politics or his own life.
If he wasn't a baseball player, he'd be one awesome novelist.
Michael Cuddyer: RF, Minnesota Twins
8 of 15
Much like Orlando Hudson, Michael Cuddyer is a gracious host of his twitter page as well.
Also, for the convenience of the fans, he's an avid photographer for both his on and off the field ventures.
Additionally, when he replies he takes the time to do so by more than those quick one-word responses.
Will Rhymes: 2B, Detroit Tigers
9 of 15
For starters his name can be interpreted as a sentence, which is awesome:
Will rhymes? No way?!?!
Will rhymes (In the acting of rhyming).
Or a tongue twister for those curious:
Will Will Rhyme rhyme, or will Will Rhyme not rhyme? Why would Will Rhyme rhyme, when we wonder whether Will Rhyme will rhyme? Will Rhyme will only rhyme when we watch Will Rhyme rhyme.
I had way to much fun with that, but in any event, check out Will's twitter page where he keeps all fans alike updated.
He's big into food, music, and movies while also showing great appreciation for his fans' support.
Dexter Fowler: CF, Colorado Rockies
10 of 15
He's a down-to-earth ball player who is having fun living life to the fullest, Dexter Fowler is enthusiastic.
He's not afraid to make public appearances, and interacts with fans through twitter as well.
Additionally, he hits up his MLB brethren online as well.
Brett Cecil: SP, Toronto Blue Jays
11 of 15
It's hard to not like a family man.
Which is why you see Brett Cecil on this list.
And, by his background picture on his twitter page, he comes off as blue-collar.
Nothing wrong being a man who doesn't shy away from letting the world know he loves his family, and can probably make some good deer jerky as well.
Logan Morrison: LF, Florida Marlins
12 of 15
The fact that he considers himself a "twittaholic" shows that he's here to voice his thoughts and opinions, while also willing to respond to fans.
His sense of humor is also interesting, as it usually comes in the form of responding to fans who have talked smack to him.
In addition, Morrison is just another technology-junkie who's advancing along in the era of open communication.
Peter Gammons: Analyst, MLB Network
13 of 15
For me, this guy is the face of baseball.
Now obviously he's not a player, but Peter Gammons' passion for the game is un-paralelled.
He doesn't tweet very often, but always has something baseball-related to say and does it with great expertise as expected.
If you like baseball, you have got to like Peter Gammons.
Adam Jones: CF, Baltimore Orioles
14 of 15
If anything, Adam Jones is a straight shooter who doesn't try to sugar-coat his message.
And, since he has almost 8,000 tweets, he's always either speaking his mind, responding to fans, or having an exchange with teammates.
Also, since he is that straight shooter, it shows his human-side more often than not and displays that he's very intelligent.
Peter Moylan: RP, Atlanta Braves
15 of 15
Peter Moylan has that scary laugh face working in the picture, which only adds to his character.
He's smart, witty, and pulls one-liners like me quoting Mitch Hedberg (best comedian ever).
Also, very proud of being Australian, thus the constant support of anything Australian on his twitter page.
