And without any further ado, from Seattle, Washington, this is the most stimulating event on TV.
-This show is in honor of "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Glad that WWE acknowledged it. I'd also expect a video package on RAW.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Match One - R-Truth d. Rey Mysterio
-Wow, that's some loud heat for Truth.
-I'm loving R-Truth's promo to start the show, telling the truth about Seattle. This character is brilliant.
-Are there seriously four announcers out there? We usually have to deal with either Jerry Lawler or Booker T. Both at the same time might be too much to bear.
-This match is going at a slow pace but it's amazing how hot the crowd is. These guys have them in the palm of their hand.
-Truth wins! Mark the f*ck out!
Final Analysis: **3/4 This was a very strong opener. I actually liked it more than last month's opener at Extreme Rules. The match had a slow pace but the crowd was hot for it throughout, booing the hell out of Truth. Seeing an entire crowd against a heel is rare to see nowadays. I really think that WWE has hit the jackpot with Truth.
Anyway, Truth won clean after Rey missed a 619 and Truth hit his Paydirt-like finisher. Post-match, Truth nailed Mysterio with a water bottle and left. That's what I like to see. I can't remember the last time a heel won clean but I commend WWE for this. It's smart booking.
Match Two - Ezekiel Jackson d. Wade Barrett via DQ
-Why is there a car on the ramp? I guess that's where R-Truth parked since he couldn't find a parking spot.
-The Corre looks pathetic without Jackson. It's going nowhere. Break it up and send Slater & Gabriel back to The New Nexus!
-The crowd was so hot for the opener and within a few minutes, they've completely died down. Shocker. Isn't Ezekiel Jackson supposed to be the next Batista?
-A "boring" chant 10 seconds in. Wow.
-Even Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler is going to have a hard time topping this match in suckness. Booker T and Michael Cole's exchange on commentary isn't helping this match either.
-"A lion in lion's clothing." Really, Cole? I thought lions normally wear Armani.
Final Analysis: 1/2* I don't know what the hell I just watched. That was probably 10 of the most brutal minutes of wrestling I've ever seen. The booking made no sense either. The Corre attacked Ezekiel and went out looking strong. Why didn't they make them look strong when it mattered? When they were trying to push The Corre, they had them get their asses kicked by Kane and Big Show. Now that they're trying to push Ezekiel Jackson, they're having him get his ass kicked by The Corre. Where's the logic in this? Moving on...
-Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga are reminding me of Peter Griffin with the "SSSS...AAAAH." I think they oversold a bit.
Match 3 - Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero
-Are they really doing this with the yellow lights again?
-...That's it?
Final Analysis: **1/4 This was just eh. I had much higher hopes for this match considering who was in it. However, these guys worked a much slower pace than they should've. Sin Cara's botch, the commentators' bickering, and the yellow lights didn't help this match either. I wouldn't say that the match was bad but it definitely could've been a lot better.
-I'm really liking where they're going with the Orton/Christian angle. The signs are pointing more and more to a Christian heel turn.
-Alberto Del Rio has gone from winning the Royal Rumble to being in a world title match at WrestleMania to being in a throwaway segment with Kane and Big Show. That's why you don't just shoehorn somebody into the main event scene.
-Kane - "I'm already angry because the rapture didn't come yesterday. I was looking forward to it." Really?
Match 4 - Kane & Big Show d. CM Punk & Mason Ryan
-Haha the crowd is chanting "Batista" for Mason Ryan.
-What's up with Mason Ryan's trunks? Looks like a design a 6-year-old would make.
-From my Over the Limit preview: "With that said, Kane and Big Show completely squashing CM Punk and Mason Ryan is the most likely scenario." It's like they're not even trying. Punk & Ryan winning would've been a disaster since the tag titles are practically worthless. But why not have Kane & Big Show win by DQ after New Nexus interferes to make the stable look strong? I don't get it.
Final Analysis: *1/4 There was some effort put in here and it wasn't as bad as the Jackson/Barrett match. However, it still wasn't a PPV quality match and I have to question the booking decision. Who comes out looking strong? Kane and Big Show lost all their credibility years ago. What does having them squash their challengers accomplish?
So far, Over the Limit started strong with the Truth/Mysterio match. Ever since then, it has just gone downhill. Let's see if things can pick up.
Match 5 - Brie Bella d. Kelly Kelly
-Never mind.
Final Analysis: 1/2* Wow, this is now a streak of horrible matches. It followed the predictable formula, too, with The Bellas doing their "Twin Magic" switch. No sign of Kharma. That's a disappointment. Hopefully, things pick up with the Orton/Christian match.
Match 6 - Randy Orton d. Christian
-The crowd has come back to life! I'm loving it.
-We're 9 minutes in. Some good stuff so far. These two have great chemistry.
-Nice reversal by Orton, reversing the Killswitch into the Boston Crab. Christian is honestly the only person I've ever seen squeeze such a fantastic match out of Orton.
-This is some of the best pure wrestling I've seen in WWE in a while. Loving all the unique counterholds right now.
Final Analysis: ****1/2 This was just as good, if not better than, the Undertaker vs. Triple H match earlier this year. As of right now, this is the "Match of the Year" for me. The holds, counterholds, and the hot crowd all added up to make one of the best matches I've seen in a long time. The Killswitch into the Boston Crab, spear into the powerslam, and RKO in a roll-up were all fantastic and unique moves. These two have great chemistry and I can only hope that we'll get more of this in the coming months. This was also probably the best non-gimmick match that both of these guys ever put on. Great job, Orton and Christian. A lot of this PPV has been crap but so far, this has more than made up for it.
-The Cole vs. Lawler match has been cancelled. Oh no! What agonizing news!
-So Jerry Lawler slams Cole into his Cole Mine, Eve comes out and hits a moonsault on Cole, JR comes out and spills a whole bottle of barbecue sauce on Cole's face, Bret Hart (marked out for that one) comes out and locks the sharpshooter on Cole, and finally Lawler makes Cole kiss his foot. Did the segment drag on a bit? Not really. It was a nice bit of nostalgia and a nice payoff to the brutal feud. The feud was two months too long but hey, what can you do? This was an enjoyable segment and I'm glad that business has picked up.
Match 7 - John Cena vs. The Miz
-Great video package, as always, to start things off.
-So Alex Riley helping Miz is Miz's big surprise?
-"That isn't just any briefcase. That's a steel briefcase." Booker T is killing it right now.
-Enough with the conversations. Let's get on with the match. 10 minutes in and all they've done is talk.
-We know that you have a leather strap, Miz. No need to announce it. 15 minutes in and the crowd is completely dead.
-Here's a challenge - take a shot every time Cena says "no" or Booker T says "breaking point."
-So far, Miz has beaten Cena with chairs, leather straps, kendo sticks, and cameras. They might as well saw Cena's limbs off and see if he quits.
-Now Miz is talking to the audience members (is that Little Jimmy?) and announcing everything that he does. This is just brutal.
-Aww come on!
Final Analysis: 3/4* Wow. This is probably one of the worst PPV main events that I have ever seen. This match had a lot of potential but it turned out to just be Riley and Miz beating on Cena with random objects for 20 minutes. If that isn't bad enough, Miz took a minute to announce each object before using it.
To end the match, Riley played a recording of Cena saying "I Quit" into the microphone. He dropped the recorder and got caught. Where do I even begin? Why would he use a recorder in 2011 when he could use something natural-looking like an iPhone? Furthermore, why would he drop it after using it? This made no sense whatsoever and predictably, Miz and Riley got caught.
To end the match, Cena hopped up and plowed through Miz and Riley in less than two minutes, making Miz say "I Quit" by locking in the STF. What an anti-climactic finish.
I've got absolutely no problem with Cena winning and I called it from the start. I was ready for a Cena win...but not like this. The very least I was hoping for was a competitive match with both men looking like they could win. But don't have Miz talk and use lame objects like belts for 20 minutes and then have Cena destroy him in two. It's horrible booking and it made Miz look incredibly weak.
Final Thoughts
This PPV gets a final score of a 5/10 from me. There was some really good stuff on this show but that doesn't compensate for all the crap that we got.
In a brief rundown, the R-Truth/Rey Mysterio match was booked perfectly. The next four matches were throwaway and added absolutely nothing to the show other than a nice, long opportunity to take bathroom break. The Christian/Orton match was fantastic. As I already said, it's likely the "Match of the Year" for me so far. The segment with Cole and Lawler that had Bret Hart and JR coming out was fun as well.
Then, things got horrible again. WWE couldn't put on a solid program for more than 45 minutes. The main event was probably one of the worst booked main events of all time. Before it went down, I had a really good mood with the PPV. Had the main event been good, the show probably would've gotten a 7 or an 8 from me. Instead, it bumped it down to a 5 because of the abomination that we saw.
And that is all for tonight folks. On a side note, I am currently taking a break from review columns. However, I will be right back here in the near future with a column on how THQ can improve the upcoming "SmackDown vs. RAW" game. Until then, I'm out!
