WWE Over the Limit: Predictions for John Cena, Christian and Randy Orton
Extreme Rules has come and gone. The faces had a nearly complete sweep of the event. This is usually the beginning of the slow period for the WWE since WrestleMania has passed and the build for Summerslam is still a ways away.
Next up on the WWE schedule is Over the Limit.
And here is the best line-up for the event.

Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
World Heavyweight Title: Christian © vs. Sheamus
Sheamus lost the U.S. title so that Raw would have a secondary belt. Often when a star loses the secondary belt he is going to challenge for the World Title. Some recent examples are The Miz, Dolph Ziggler and John Cena.
Smackdown needs to build some main event heels and currently Sheamus is a top choice. Without this feud, fans will get impatient for a Randy Orton/Christian feud, and the IWC should know that Christian will not defeat Randy Orton.
WWE Title: John Cena © vs. The Miz
Standard rematch. John Cena will retain but do not be surprised by a DQ finish as Miz needs to keep his momentum going. Also, look for a slight attitude change from the Miz as he will need to stay relevant through the summer. Miz will likely regain the title before the year’s end.
Randy Orton vs. Alex Riley
WWE has invested a lot into A-Ri, and if they chose to build him up like they did with the Miz, with Randy Orton taking Cena’s place, WWE could have a very solid main eventer in the future. Randy Orton needs someone to occupy his first Smackdown PPV match. Even with a loss, a good showing from Riley could jump start his fledgling career.
Drew McIntyre vs. Evan Bourne
This could be a good match to prepare Drew McIntyre for upward advancement. Evan Bourne would bring viewers looking to see high flying moves. With Drew likely going over in this one it protects him from jobbing to Rey Mysterio or Kofi Kingston.
The summer season is experimental for the WWE; they had a very strong WrestleMania and some increased ratings. Drew McIntyre could gain some momentum and then challenge for the U.S. Title or be a strong Money in the Bank candidate.
Rey Mysterio/Kofi Kingston vs. CM Punk/Mason Ryan
With CM Punk’s penchant for holding grudges, he may turn his attentions from Randy Orton onto Rey Mysterio. Rey is less likely to be able to fend off the Nexus alone, which will bring Kofi into the feud. Look for Rey and Kofi to defeat Otunga and McGillicutty on an upcoming Raw to set up this match.
Mason Ryan will gain a lot of experience and develop much faster by having matches with veterans that can sell his power.
Intercontinental Championship: Wade Barrett © vs. Ezekial Jackson
The Corre is imploding. The Intercontinental Title is wasted on Wade Barrett right now.
Ezekial Jackson, win or lose, needs to be set up as a main event heel to challenge Christian and potentially Randy Orton.
Wade Barrett should prepare to face Daniel Bryan by Summerslam. WWE is likely and unsuccessfully trying to hold off the Fatal Corre-Way until the Fatal 4-Way PPV.
Tag Team Triple Threat: Big Show/Kane vs. Slater/Gabriel vs. Santino/Kozlov
With the Tag Team Lumberjack match at Extreme Rules the WWE showed their depth in Tag Team Wrestling. With the post-match brawl they showed a proactive interest in doing something with that part of the roster. Over the Limit will need space filler and a Triple Threat Tag Match will be an excellent payoff.
Divas Title: Brie Bella © vs. Kelly Kelly
Kelly Kelly will likely be Raw’s No. 1 Diva starting off. It’s too soon for Kharma to challenge Brie or anyone else for a title. Kelly Kelly could conceivably lose to twin magic and still come off sympathetic. WWE needs to keep Kharma and Beth Phoenix separate for as long as possible.
And obvious omission here is any kind of Michael Cole match, which I’m starting to believe may be a huge roundabout that will bring Booker T off of the announce table and back to the ring. I truly believe that this may be the only end result that the fans would enjoy.
These are my predictions before The Rock’s Birthday Bash even begins. Let’s see how many of these actually happen.
Stylistically Speaking,
Trey J. Styles
