UFC 129 Video Interview: Jose Aldo Talks Injuries and UFC Debut
Scheduled to defend his UFC Featherweight Championship for the first time at UFC 129, Jose Aldo was interviewed by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting just days before the event.
Originally expected to make his UFC debut against Josh Grispi, Aldo was forced to withdraw from that fight due to injury and will now meet Mark Hominick.
"I did take some time off to recuperate from some of the wounds that I had, but I feel 100 percent," Aldo said. "I've never been so prepared for a fight and I'm ready to go on Saturday night."
Although Aldo is finally realizing his dream of fighting in the UFC, he isn't taking this fight any differently than he had for his previous fights with the WEC.
"It's just a different color," Aldo explained. "The WEC was blue and the UFC is black. Like I said, it was a dream of mine and I'm just happy to be here and fight."
Although Aldo has defeated some of the greatest featherweights in MMA history, Hominick has stated that the current champion hasn't ever faced a striker like him before. Aldo didn't agree or disagree with Hominick's comments, but says that he will do his talking in the cage.
"That's his game. He's saying what he has to say," commented Aldo. "When we get inside the Octagon face-to-face, we'll see what happens. I've talked to Anderson (Silva) and like Anderson says, even a parrot can talk.
